I really enjoyed it. I enjoyed it more because I watched the accompanying doc on Italian Noir and because I have been to the locations. Last year I went to Sicily, and in Trapani, Agrigento, Ragusa Ibla (where most of the scenes are filmed) and Modica, heard about the novels and the scenes shot in those places. I love the South East part of Sicity, it's stunning - much more stunning than you saw in this drama - it's inexpensive, and I strongly reccomend a visit.
Why is the BBC not showing all the Montalbanos? I missed the one or two shown a while back. It takes time to get into a series and to learn the characters, style and culture. This is very different from the much darker Scandinavian stuff we all love, or our own usually depressing drama, so it needs more airtime to grow on us. Like most Italian things, it's not rushed and taken slowly and not totally logically. I liked the quirkiness of it, the comedy, and just that it's Italian.
