The point for me - where that article and Weston's bizarre attitude is concerned - is that it actually doesn't matter what's "great" about Doctor Who. It's a light entertainment show that is on air for around 11 hours a year and the idea that some can be as passionate about NOT watching it as the fans who do is weird.

Makes me wonder if Weston - the "comic book guy" - has issues with the show that aren't related to the broadcasts. Maybe he was rejected as a writer/illustrator or maybe the return of the show in 2005 knocked the bottom out of sales of his comics. Hell, his missus may have run off with a Dalek.

Whatever it is, he needs to move on with his life. Getting that upset about a light-hearted TV show that hardly dominates the airwaves and media is not healthy. I could understand someone complaining that there is nothing else on because of some massively hyped show like X-factor or Big Brother but DW generally just gets shown and there are reviews and the occasional interview. It doesn't get forced down anyone's throat.

To turn the usual trolls insults around - it's a kids show - it's not worth getting excited about - grow up - get a life etc - those apply far more to people whose passions are inflamed by a program they DON'T like than they do to those who do like it.

You don't actually know a lot about the comics industry or Chris Weston, do you? Any such scenario is unlikely since Weston principally works for American companies and for 2000AD, whose readership is as strong as ever. As far as I'm aware, he has never been connected even speculatively with Doctor Who strips.
