What really winds him up is when the 2am Taxi arrives late or not at all, maybe they are winding him up for fun.

Got to laugh
Given he spends £10k of his own earnings every year on the taxis, there's no doubt who'll have the last laugh.

As a broadcaster myself in a voluntary role, I do catch Steve many a time through the night and find his output to be unique and fascinating. However, I have not heard him taking calls from listeners, or is that not his ultimate role as an LBC broadcaster.

He doesn't take calls because sharp callers would wipe the floor with him, showing up his ignorance and lack of research. That's my guess, anyway!

I'm wondering why Steve found it necessary this morning to say that he knew who had won this year's "Strictly Come Dancing" as it's been recorded already?
Surely not?

You don't listen to radio 4 today programme and think oh it's all news
Or Kiss FM and say oh why don't they play classical music
Steve Allen has his brand. I listen to his podcast (the free bit). I often laugh out loud but it is true that if you miss one , next times is remarkably similar

Well, it is his role as a 'gossip' to be honest. Gossips do not listen to others, they tend to preach.

But, as he would say - 'if you can do it better, try'.

Having inherited an indoor cat in recent months, I'm finding myself awake at 5am more often than I'd like to be and I find Steve to be fairly amusing and original. I don't agree with everything he says and find his dislike of Coleen Nolen to be a bit OTT but he makes a nice change from the more serious shows on LBC and the constant reminder that Britain is very divided over Brexit and that domestic violence is more common than it should be in 21st century Britain. It's like having a gossip at work to ease the stress.

Couldn't agree more. It makes me chuckle when people get upright about his dislike of certain zelebs but that's the point of his show entirely. Very clever man imo.

Unless it's changed the cars were always funded by Global on their account, hence why he can't threaten to leave and use someone else.

He's said on several occasions he pays it from his own pocket

Goodgodin'eaven where do they find these people? Honestly ladies and gentleman they are just ghastly! And don't get me started on Bobby Norris! You know your down in your luck when he shows up!
I love they way he talks about the Essex lot. He has me in stitches every day. I've listened to him on and off for years but I have now paid for the podcasts just so I don't miss his show.

He may be an aquired taste but so are most people on the radio and that's what makes them extra special.

I think he is better at just talking along to himself or his silent producer (have you heard him talking to sweep from sooty and sweep) ok it was a mock up from Chris Moyle but very funny.

He took calls the other day about the sad news of George Michaels' passing and he was very polite but you just know that on a few occasions he wanted to say something like 'i'm sure your carers will be round soon with your medication dear'

Or the trip to burger king when they ran out of hash browns.
I'm glad he talks about his ailments. And I'm glad he goes to have his stents fitted. It keeps him Alive and that keeps us happy.

He spends £214 on aftershave, despite a) not being in a relationship b)not wanting one and c)not being on the pull. So who is he wearing it for? I cant imagine him letting anyone close enough to smell it!

What????? Why does anyone have to wear something or want to feel good for someone else. Can he not perhaps want to feel good in himself?

Why does Allen talk as if he is a pauper. He has to be a millionaire a few times over.

Own home. Never takes holidays. What does he spend his £240,000 salary on???

He must only spend around £20,000 a year. On himself. And a few quid on his brothers.

If you need to put on aftershave to feel good about yourself, you have aproblem! feeling good about yourself should come from within. But then,self-awareness has never been his strong point. He knows the cost of everything and the value of nothing.

How you know all this? Surely you must realise he might say things on his show to keep some form of privacy....... or just to fill the show while he does his act...and why are you so interested in what happens in his life outside of the show anyway?

He pays people to do things he should be doing, due to lazyitis

Also, don't forget he pays for the company of others with gifts etc.

Do you know his financial affairs and know how much his salary is and his outgoings?

I 'know all this' because I am quoting him! he has made these statements when doing his 'in conversation' about 2 months ago.

Even so, I can't see his outgoings any more than £30,000 a year and that is something.

So he's banking around £180,000 per year.

His taxis are free, paid for by LBC.

Do you know his financial affairs and know how much his salary is and his outgoings?

Yes, he said he gets £3,500 a show. And he also goes into great detail what he spends and what he doesn't spend.
