Yes, but my point is that in reality you are more likely to get a faulty HDMI cable if you try and save a few quid. Too many people paint it as black&white, "because it's digital", when the truth is actually very, very grey.
There's no point spending ridiculous amounts but at least buy from a trusted manufacturer who has probably had the cable properly tested.

Used a few poundland leads and a few from Aldi, never found a faulty one yet. I did find a problem with a mates fancy hdmi cable which worked fine but blanked a freeview mux. Swapping it for an el-cheapo sorted it.

Yes, and even worse the ludicrous 'monster' cables can even damage the socket, as they are far too big and heavy for no good reason.
