Post some film trivia that you think other people may not know.....

For The Silence of the Lambs, producers originally wanted Sean Connery and Michelle Ppeiffer to play Hannibal Lecter and Clarice Starling! Ppeiffer turned it down due to the violent content of the film. Connery turned it down (although I'm not sure why). How different would that film have been.....?

And your piece of tantalising trivia is.......?

Sergio Leone was first choice to direct The Godfather, but turned it down as he thought it sensationalised the Mafia. He later went on to direct Once Upon a Time in America.

Surely Mr Connery would be more along the lines of "I ate hish liver with a shide of deep fried midges, a bottle of Iron Bru and a barely concealed loathing of the English"

Halloween producer Debra Hill's hands were used for the scene in which young Michael repeatedly stabs his sister to death (seen from the audience's POV).

Towards the end of filming Jaws Author Peter Benchley was thrown off the set due to objecting to the climax of the film.
Shame really I liked both the book and film.

Tom Selleck was the first choice to play Indiana Jones but had to decline because the producers of Magnum PI would not release him to do the film.

More related to the cover art for the film, but the skull in The Silence of the Lambs cover is the Salvador Dali painting of seven naked women.

In Back to the future the set used as the town of Hill Valley, is also seen as Kingston Falls in Gremlins.

The same goes for The Burbs and desperate housewives who both used the same set as each other.

Richard Branson appears in the airport scene in Casino Royal.

The film Dirty Harry has quite an interesting story.

Apparently the script was originally written for John Wayne. He turned it down as he felt the script glorified violence.

Frank Sinatra, Robert Mitchum, Steve McQueen and Burt Lancaster all turned it down for various reasons. Paul Newman was also asked but suggested Clint Eastwood for the role. Marlon Brando was even considered but never approached.

Audie Murphy was the original choice to play the villain Scorpio but he died in a plane crash and so could not be offered the role. James Caan was also considered. Eventually the part went to Andy Robinson who was recommended by Clint Eastwood.

Titanic : The sketch that Jack drew of Rose wearing the famous necklace was drawn by James Cameron. The hands drawing the sketch are really Cameron's. His was also responsible for all the other Jack sketches
