The Electric Light Orchestra, legendary 70's/80's rock band who gave us such classics as Mr Blue Sky,Evil Woman,Wild West Hero,Rockaria!,Don't Bring Me Down and many more. Lady's and Gentlemen please show your appreciation.
Quite agree, ELO were a breath of fresh air at a time of a general lack of quality music. I had been an admirer of Jeff Lynn since his days with Idle Race and his collaboration with the great Roy Wood. His influence was The Beatles-and particularly songs like I Am The Walrus. Indeed, he went on to produce some of their later stuff after John's death.
Isn't there already an ELO appreciation thread? I'm sure I posted not too long ago that ELO were always a bit of a guilty pleasure - very unfashionable and not at all "cool" but my god, didn't they come up with some classic tunes?
I'm a bit too young to really remember their earlier stuff (although I've listened to it since of course) but for me the best years were between Out of the Blue to Secret Messages.
Everytime me and daughter hear Mr Blue Sky, we just have to pat our hands together (like pat-a-cake) really hard. Have done this ever since she was a baby She loves ELO. I love Wild West Hero and Don't Bring Me Down.
