Moon Over Walford
NANA
Alfie, i've decided I want to get cremated. ALFIE Come on then. Get your coat. ...I want the old Moons back! Just thought I'd share. They could be such a great family, possibly the best in the Square, if the non-writers would understand that just because we like them, heaping bucket loads of tragedy and misery on them isn't going to make us care. When Nana was having her mental health problems in 2003 (water on the brain, wasn't it? does that mean she has wet dreams), I thought they were such a great creation: a real sympathetic, likeable, fragile heart for the show. Now they've been drained away. Spencer was, is, and always will be crap, but when Nana and Alfie are got right, they compensate. The sympathy didn't work in the Blackmail plot, but it did work - for me - in Nana's Non-Wedding. When she sat down crying, I wanted to punch that Wilfred! So they can still be the heart of the show (underneath all the screaming and bravado that surrounds them), they just need to get the light-side right. The two of them together could become the heart of the show, with or without Kat, but they do need to loose that usless lump of flesh that hangs about with them, you know who I mean.Apologies if the above is a bit rambling, and doesn't make much sense but I fly out on holiday in about 15 hours and I've just remembered how much I hate flying Anyone got any valium they can chuck in a North Londony direction?

I totally agree. They are such a sweet family and the writers destroyed it by making Alfie a misery like the rest of The Square! One happy family wouldn't be too much to ask for noe, would it?

This has come from Tina Baker - who is known to get her facts mixed up! - but as the actress is on maternity leave, then so the character must also exit form the show! shame they couldn't do something more exciting! pretty poor storyline, if you ask me! |

I totally agree WalfordOne. They've such potential. The Moons could be such an entertaining family if the writers excused them from the unwritten EE rule which forbids any family to go two episodes without being miserable. Alfie is one of the show's few rays of hope, and Nana is tragically under-used. As for Spencer.. that **** should be axed, there's no hope for his character at all.

Nana and Alfie are the comedy pairing in that family! - its a shame - they are not used to their full potential! |

Louise calls them the sun-shine family? Well I haven't seen any of this so far. Alfie would be better with another partner - Kat is too gloom.

Give Alfie some fun with Jane or Kate....... or maybe he could ruin Andy's marriage to Sam by sleeping with her, and taping it! talk about revenge!

Alfie and Jane.. Now that's a good idea. They've both got a sense of humour at least.

Alfie rushed into marriage way too quickly with kat! and now to prove us all right - it looks like its heading for the divorce courts! dammm... I should've had a bet on that!

the Sunshine family. I like that.
But I do think Alfie & Kat should stay together. I think both the Moons and the Slaters need to revert to how they were before their character drained out: the chirpy, smiling Moons; and the sparky, feisty Slaters. I think the pairing of Kat & Alfie was perfect for the show (not least Alfie being Kat's "man in the Moon" being perfect for her character) and the way they were last year, when they first met and sort-of fell in love before she got engaged to Andy and they played the will they/wont they game for weeks leading up to the 'Non-Wedding of the Year', was the best thing going for the show. I even liked seeing Jessie Wallace come on when Shane 'the ego' Richie was singing "I'm Your Man" at the Children in Need night. I think Jane is as good as Alfie was (last year) so I hope she holds on to her vitality; and I think she'll work better with Ian than Alfie. I think she's supposed to be a sort of latent salt-of-the-earth "plain Jane", and she's not gutsy enough to be a member of the "Vic Couple", which Kat is absolutley perfect for (in line with Angie, Tiffany, etc). Jane is everyone's friend, like Alfie, but somehow I just can't see them together. And "Jane Beale" sounds better than "Jane Moon". So there. |

I always thought Lil Mo and Alfie would be good together. Lil Mo is very sensitive and also very giggly. He could wind her up and they'd be on the same wavelength. Alfie is far too emoticonal for the likes of Kat.

I don't think Lil Mo and Alfie would work really.. He's very outgoing, she's very shy. It wouldn't do the Moons any good anyway if this relationship came about.. Lil Mo is constantly in a state of misery, and Alfie needs to stay away from depressing plots as he's one of the few cheery characters.

give him a cheery girl!!! someone he can have fun with! I never fully understood, why they (EE) put Alfie and Kat together in the first place |

I'd never wish away where Kat & Alfie went last year. Alfie 'Crashing the Wedding' was one of the all-time classics. Great script, really top notch. Real classic stuff. Unfortunatley it was a far-fetched play-for-today scenario, which often works for EE, but sewed th seeds for the problems that lay ahead for the show and the Kat & Alfie marriage.

I think Kat and Alfie are a perfect match! This storyline actually had character development and you could believe they got together as you say how they fell in love. The one couple I thought misery should have left alone! Typical EE!
