I saw it today and it was cute if somewhat cring But i love Ellie regardelss listening to Halcyon right now so many missed songs hsould never have been abandoned in favour of Halcyon Days Joy would ahve served as a better single than HLWIY but alas we still have Halcyon in all it's beauty

And i heard a little snippet of it yesterday LM sounds like a good mix of Halcyon and the more dancey stuff on Days

HLWILY? in at #3 her first back to back top 10 as a lead artist another career milestone for her and at this rate not unlikely Halcyon will go 2x platinum with Halcyon and HD both selling well

I've only recently started listening to Ellie a lot and now I'm thinking of buying Lights or Halcyon

Until recently I've always read it as "Halycon" and pronounced it in my head (thankfully not out loud) as Hal-i-con.

Do people on here prefer Lights or Halcyon? I'm not sure which one to buy first

Well Ellie Likes a re-release so it's complicated

Lights her debut is fantastic it's sparkly folktronica and ethereal electronic is brilliant and contains Under The Sheets, Starry Eyed, Guns And Horses and The Writer and can pick it up for £3.99 in HMV but for a pound or two more can buy the 16 track re-release Bright Lights which contains Lights and Your song i'd opt for the latter as an extra 7 songs is a bonus

Halcyon for me is myy favourite and a massive step forward it's more alternative and darker with uses of Drum and Bass and is more art pop, Electronica and contains Anything could happen, figure 8, explosions, i need your love personally i would go for the re-release Halcyon Days deluxe it contains two discs the original delxue edition Halcyon and a bonus disc Halcyon Days conating Burn and How long will i love you you can pick up the original halcyon for a fiver or £12.99 for the deluxe Halcyon Days

Thanks for this! Going by what you said, it's definitely worth buying both of the deluxe albums so I think I'll do that

I'm going to start with Bright Lights because they both sound great so I might as well start with the first one.

It's okay P_P and a great place to start i love the original 10 tracks and Lights more but the extra 6 songs are great too. It's a great album it's so of light and sparkly but with all things Ellie there is always a darker undercurrent especially in the lyrics

But P_P whilst i ador Lights Ellie is great in that Halcyon is a departure na dmuch stronger and more mature record and it's my personal favourite

I think I prefer the singles from Halcyon on the whole

I'm glad I didn't buy the albums straight after release though, because knowing me I probably wouldn't get round to buying the deluxe songs

Same here Anything Could Happen and Explosions in [articular such great songs

And if I Wasn't such a fan i wouldn't have bothered

I really like those two as well

I went for it and bought Bright Lights to make sure it didn't go on the list of albums I want but I'll never end up buying.

Started listening to "Bright Lights" 10 minutes ago. I've had it for a while but I don't think that I've ever listened to it in full.

It's a great album i'll say it again the roiginal only needed Lights and it would ahve been the perfect 11 track elctro pop nugget the extra songs kind of pale in comparison.

I always love with Ellie that there is the light sparkly production but quite self relefctive lyrics she never gets credit for her writing something she expanded on with Halcyon.

Since you mentioned you bought it I've gone back and listened to it and nothing has changed I love it as much as when I first heard it. It's just show catchy and sparkly and lyrically it's brilliant Under The sheets what a debut single to have genuinely love it still

Are you going to buy Halcyon next ?

I'm really loving Lights, I know it was huge in America but it did't really hit off here.

I hope so, there isn't one single on there that I dislike, and Christmas is coming up of course.

Yeah it was a huge sleeper hit in the states selling over 4.5 million downloads and Burn is heading in the same direction number 21 and rising with massive airplay . I think the issue over here was the album had gone double platinum and Your Song was hug so it overshadowed Lights unfortunately same thing happened when figure 8 was released and ACH was still quite big.

And yes Xmas is always a great time to got those much needed albums . And Halcyon (The original) is a corker, Halcyon Days so so some good tracks some filler feels like a collection of b-sides
