Hi I'm an Expat living in France using a old Pace Box with a freesat card (so that I get channel 5)

This box is scart connected to my TV which is HD so I'm looking to get a new decoder to get the most out of HD Tv

I'm not needing a Hard disc as I don't record programs

Whet's the best value non hard disc box around ?
and just in case a good box with a Hard Disc

I like the Humex models or simelar models with 'on screen' details on the box un like the bush or samsung where you don't see anything

For info my satelite points to 28.2

many thanks

I'm answering my own question as I've been spending time on the web and forums

I think that I shall go for a :

Humax FOXSATHDR
TWIN TUNER FREESAT 320GB PVR

If any one has any remarks I would be pleased to hear them before I order it

thanks

I've owned a Humax Foxsat-HDR previously and now have a Samsung SMT-S7800. Can you explain what 'on screen' details you think are missing from the Samsung as I'm not aware of this limitation?

Sorry, I wasn't clear, I forget my English being away so long

Whet I meant is that I can see certain details on the front of the box

channel number, program etc

The Samsung also shows on the front of the box the current Channel name (or programme name for a recording).

It's more modern, but mainly it doesn't suffer from the Humax idiosyncrasies.

The Humax won't let you record the programme you're watching from start even if it's in its buffer.
I found navigation through the programme guide on the Humax to be jerky and it had a strange period of silence when you viewed the EPG and then the sound suddenly broke in after about 30 seconds. The Samsung sound keeps playing when you go to the EPG and the picture continues in a small window at the top of the screen.
Recently, the Humax bizarrely also doesn't allow a programme to be scheduled for recording when you initially use the EPG.
The Samsung seems a more up to date consumer product. However, the Humax allows recorded programmes to be copied to a USB drive: the Samsung does not.
