Me too. I hear lots of people saying how good it is but it just doesn't click for me. I've got a pile of them on the planner at the moment but I think I'm just going to delete them as I need the space for other recordings. I'll download them instead and maybe watch them at some point.

Anything sci-fi!! Whats the point?? Its not real life, its just pure stupid, make-beleive fantasy!! Some of the old sci-fi programmes, like the old Star Trek was supposed to have been based around this century, but so far, we are not living in space capsules and on spacecraft and being beamed up anywhere and eating spacefood!!!!
![]() ![]() . Then all the recent sci-fi shows from the 90s and now are just so plain stupid with pathetic story-lines and plots!! A complete waste of time to me!!! Also, could never get into The Big Bang Theory either!! Also South Park, American Dad, Family Guy!! Could never get into those either!! |

![]() ![]() Ain't every TV show ever written pure fantasy, make believe and anything but real life??????? ![]() Sci fi series like ANY OTHER GENRE requires that you SUSPEND belief and in order to enjoy the story, immerse yourself into the universe created by the specific TV show. This is not only applicable to TV shows, its also applicable to films and LITERATURE! In fact, every medium which deals with fiction demands the suspension of belief on the part of the viewer / reader! I can understand that you don't enjoy sci fi - not everybody does. But you really lack an argument - the points you raise are anything but valid! Fiction, in whatever medium, requires certain suspension of belief. Writers create a universe for us with their writing / visual representations (TV / film). The universe they create has its own rules. In many cases, these universes are completely recognisable to us (non sci fi fiction generally) but even these, have their own rules and slight differences to the real world. Sci fi takes it a step further, or a few steps further , but even then, they will also feature certain similarities to the real world, or create a universe which has its roots in the real world. Using your argument nobody would enjoy The Simpsons for example - how could anyone enjoy a TV show about a yellow cartoon family! And Iw on't go into any of the literary greats - most of which require a degree of suspension of belief from readers but yet have remained great works of literature for centuries! |

Fraiser. can't believe this show went on and on for eleven seasons while great shows like "Damages" are struggling.

I bought season one of The Wire two years ago. I still haven't watched it. I can't get into it at all, even though loads of people say it's great.
I also watched the first season of The 4400 recently and I'm not going to continue with it. The plot is interesting but I found the characters so predictable and dull. |

I couldn't get into Lost atall watched about 7 episodes of series 1, I didn't think it was bad and whilst I was watching it I did enjoy it but then I couldn't motivate myself to get it out of my dvd cabinet...
Similar with 24 got quite close to the end of series one and then just totally lost momentum and it has remained collecting dust in my dvd cabinet ever since... |

24 ... someone has lent me DVD boxset - all series. I ploughed through the first series but found it so ludicrous and tedious I haven't tried any of the others.
Can anyone tell me it gets better, before I give the box back? |

Deadwood - Lovejoy swearing too much in a weird accent. Once I got over that, I just couldn't get into it at all.
24 - only watched the first few series because I didn't have Sky. But then when I switched to Sky, I just watched something else on Sky. |

Babylon 5. I know it gets raved about in cult circles, but I tried watching it when it first aired. Managed half way through the first season, but gave up. It just seemed so bad. Plus, I could not stand the Commander.

Caprica was one, Dexter (not for want of trying), the new V, Falling Skies... I think there are some more.

They changed the Commander in Season 2, a much nicer easier bloke to get on with, and the show improved (a long story arc which should have ended the show at Season 4 really but they pushed for one more).

Got another one I just tried watching Game of Thrones which was what sky promoted big time when it came on and I've read a ton of good reviews but apart from spending the time watching the hooker to figure out how I knew her I don't really get the show so just turned it off

I'd previously tried eps1+2 and not like how the main 2 interacted - kinda like the Bones coupling, painful - Anyway, I checked out ep104, loved it (Claudia defn bringing something the show needed), and now am an avid watcher. Quote:
I'd tried ep1 and not like the main lady, so stopped. Much later I watched ep13 cos Kathleen Munroe was in it. The WTF ending had me completing the rest soon afterwards. (avoid spoilers!!) I knew Dexter was the show for me within a few minutes

Had been saving up the second half of Nikita, but have deleted them as I just got bored with the storyline.

The original Danish version of the Killing. 20 episodes just seemed too long and I lost interest.
Maybe I was put off by the likes of The Guardian gushing over it. I could just imagine a bunch of metropolitan muppets at some poncy dinner party droning on about it. |
