This list is pretty endless but I thought I could just get people views on if they thought there have been any good ones and if so who they are. Also, who where the absolute worst and are there any more planning a break out of the soap and into the charts.
- I can think of a fair few disasters such as Adam Rickitt; Holly Valance; Jeniffer Ellison; Sid Owen; Sean Maguire.
- But there's still the odd one that's done ok such as Kylie; Delta Goodrem.
Views anyone?

I think it's nonsence.

They should stick to singing and not mess up by acting (which some can't) quite frankly.

I reckon you're right in the respect that most of them are rubbish Dalton, but I still like it when they do it because it's entertaining to be able to mock them. I should probably say that there is a very small minority who are actually ok. I think Delta Goodrem is very talented, for example

Delta Goodrem isn't really a soap star turned pop star. She went into Neighbours already as a talented musician, and being in Neighbours gave her that extra promotion. Remember she started singing 'Born to Try' quite early on as she had already recorded that either before she joined the soap or during it.

I still tend to think of her as a soapstar turned popstar. Technically, I suppose she's a popstar, turned soapstar, turned popstar again. I heard the song she released in Australia before Neighbours- Something like 'I don't care.' It, erm, wasn't all that fantastic. She gave herself an image change after she went in Neighbours and used it to promote herself. I wouldn't have really called her accomplished before Neighbours as that single didn't even make the top 30. Of course Neighbours helped her along the way to become a star. Coincidentally, there's a girl called Lucie Silva on 'the box,' who seems to be a complete carbon copy of Delta. She's sat at a piano doing the same sort of music in the same sort of video with the same sort of style. Don't know if anyone's seen her?

Michelle Gail was pretty successful as soap stars go - but then she was always trying to become a singer even before she got her part on Eastenders.

I thought she had a good voice- it was that one song she did- 'my perfect moment.' I didn't think she was great, but she was better than a lot of the others.

I thought so too, it's still one of my favourite songs, they often play it on Magic channel.

Some other dire ones, don't forget Sid Owen and that awful song, can't even remember it now, and Nick Berry - Every Loser Wins, or in his case ...... And Anita Dobson too, although she has had quite a successful career on the stage I think.

The absolute worst - Stefan Dennis. I can't even remember what the song was called now or how it went, but I do remember thinking at the time ... GAAAAAAH

I see we were reminded by Ian (when he was 'dressed' as Adam Ant the other week) of the Banned - does anyone remember when Letitia Dean and the bloke who played Kelvin released their record - Somethin' Outta Nothing?

It was around the same time as Anyone Can Fall in Love and Every Loser Wins. It seemed that not a week went by without a member of the Eastenders cast turning up in the Top of the Pops studio

Oh blimey, yeah, I had forgotten that one. If I remember it wasn't too bad, or maybe it was the best of a bad bunch.

I knew Letitia had released one but I have never heard it- I think it was towards the end of the 80s. I've remembered a few more- Denise Welsh (I think it was her name) off Corrie- she did one. It was 'you don't have to say you love me' and got to about 22 and was on 'Soap Stars behaving Badly' as criminal behaviour.

I guess its a matter of opinion then!
I made this CD earlier this year of soap stars turned popstars for a comedic element and I was listening to it with my mate earlier, which made me think to post the topic- There's Matthew Marsden too- i think we all forgot him so far. Maybe you had just all blocked him out I don't know!

Get bored of some of the soapstars releasing tunes.

To be honest I don't like Kylie and don't think she can sing

I don't understand the appeal of Jennifer Ellison ... well I do, the fake boobs, skimpy outfits etc but thats not the point, why buy CDs to stare at the cases because I personally wouldn't listen to her because she can't sing! No offenence intended but she just can't!

I actually like Deltra Goodrem singing.

Shall we have bets on which soapstar will turn popstar next?

Corrie's - Blanche? Deirdre? Todd? Sunita? Emily Bishop? Ken Barlow?

EE's - Dot Cotton? Pauline Fowler? Sonia? Juley? Wellard? Betty?

Neighbours - Harold playing the tuba in the background of a Kylie song?

Angel

Sounds fun. Wasn't Suranne Jones interested? As well as Katie off Emmerdale. The woman that plays Izzy in Neighbours is actually doing material at the moment, and the girl that plays Sky has stated an interest too.
The funs not over yet!

Oh yes, the Stefan Dennis song, it was called 'Don't it make you feel good', funnily enough, I stumbled accross it on a website the other day, there was a thing you could click on to listen to the song. I sat and listened, and it was awful, yes, but funny awful in a way, and it sounded so 1980s.

People! Tracey Shaw
And Curly! Remember the dog in the video...oh bless him, how embarassing!

This one doesn't really count of Martin Kemp was in Spandau Ballet (sp?) and then went into EE, he was pretty successful but that was before EE created Steve!
