It means a quick dip in shares then business as usual....Tim Cook has been running Apple for quite a while now and the share price overall has risen over that time......

It means nothing. 90%+ of people who buy Apple products don't know who Steve Jobs is and wouldn't care if they did. They don't need another "revolutionary" product for a good 4-5 years, so there's plenty of time to come up with it and just iterate on current products until then.

I would like to think that the share price might finally drop to more reasonable levels. A $350bn+ valuation for a company with around $25bn in annual profits is a bit high. But I doubt that's going to happen any time soon, we're smack in the middle of a mobile bubble (see Rovio being valued in the billions) so until that bursts, Apple shares will continue to trade at obscene levels.

Sad news. His health must be pretty bad. After the initial shock it should be business as usual. As for the long term future, who knows? How big can a company grow until there's no more room to grow?

Steve Jobs has had to deal with an aggresive cancer and a liver transplant and I hope that he receives the best healthcare possible and that he makes a good recovery.

Even though he's handed over the day to day work to Tim Cook, I am sure that he'll be involved not only via his chairmanship of Apple but also through being consulted about new products and designs too.
