I don't really think that Flavia did have a chance tbh....As much as I like Jimi, he was never going to be as good as Scott or Matt Baker, and there was also Kara and Pamela who were better from the very beginning.

Like I said before Erin has had the best chance to win twice now, whereas Flavia has ever only had one partner who could have been a finalist, and even then most would disagree with me there.

And anyway...What happened to the Bobby Ball rumour?? I wanted him for Flav if she couldn't get one of the naturally talented

Well, yes, I suppose Erin would be even better then as it would be one kiwi/one aussie per couple and I wouldn't have a problem with that I don't mind seeing her on our screens. I see what you mean about Nat also and I suppose it is a fair point.

I don't mind Flavia not getting the best, and would prefer her to get one of the 'gimmick' celebs to someone who was middle of the table, but too serious to choreograph anything other than a straight dance with....but I am thinking that TPTB are bringing in Russell for entertainment value like Ann last year, and on that theory think that they are more likely to pair him with Erin than quiet Flavia.”

I would love Nancy and Vincent for the point which you mention Dilly and if Gino competed, I'd love him with Flav so we could have 2 crazy italian couples too

Exactly Dilly I don't expect her to get the best, but she has only came close once!

With all due respect footygirl, Erin isn't the only one lumbered with non-dancers....Flav had the awful early retirement with Jimmy, out first with Phil and ending up with Craig not to mention the other pros who've also been lumbered with non-dancers, Kristina springing to mind. Considering them all, Erin has had some good partners in her time and got far in the series a lot with the likes of Julian, Colin, Austin and even Martin got more than half-way!

Also, as for Flav having a chance with Jimi, as much as I loved Flavistry, with the likes of Scott and Matt in the male side alone (who were obviously going to be the judges choices), he really didn't have a chance and neither did Flav

I think you are right, and I agree that none of them have had the best of luck in their time on strictly other than Natalie, but regardless of her having two decent chances before, the producers will decide on who will make the best entertainment show when deciding their pairs, and not who has had the best in previous years.

I'm still not sure Anita Dobson is taking part. Jodie Prenger was in the article that also linked Will Young (although it was reported Jodie had signed)

Team Flobby FTW!

That is the best team name ever!

Oh well they may as well put Russell with Natalie then

I think Natalie would be just TOO tall for him, and again like Flavia I don't know that Natalie would have the right personality the producers might be looking for to partner him. ...I'd still definitely go for Erin, but we'll have to wait and see. That is only the way I would do it.

With a bit of luck he may not be doing it - because while being an Erin fan - after Camilla and Karen both left - I would feel for any of the pros working with him - especially Erin who has had 2/8 chances to win

I think the last we heard it was doubtful he would be even doing it so hopefully that will be him off the list.

I am fully prepared to be totally wrong but much as I love Erin, I think she would have been gone from Strictly already if she wasnt Anton's partner....Lilia wasnt immune from the cull but Erin was.....the BBC seem determined to keep Anton and I can see him insisting on keeping Erin and who could blame him....therefore if I am correct I think it will be most unlikely that she will get a partner than has any kind of chance on paper.....she will have to hope for a talented long shot.

She has had more chances of winning than many of them...she has been in the final twice and had a sportsman every year bar 2 and even though 2 of them were of the older variety they bring with them their own fans. I dont think Erin is ever going to win this.

Erin will probably never win it but she's also highly unlikely to go out first.

Going back to the list of women...I wish the list would also include Kate Humble and Sian Williams personally and if we are having a winter olympian I would rather have the gold medal winning Amy Williams than a friend of Brendans that I have never heard of.

I can still see Erin getting a dud/older contestant. I will not be surprised to see Natalie and Aliona get the younger ones again.
I would still like Ricky Hatton to be paired with Flavia. I hope Gino isn't in it.

I agree. No disrespect to Chemmy as I'm sure she does her best & all that but in sporting terms she's pretty Z list really - never finished inside the top 10 at a World champs or Olympics.

I think last year was probably the year for Amy to do it as she did take a bit of time off after the Olympics but she's back training now. I wish they'd got a sportswoman who has achieved something - Sally Gunnell perhaps or Gail Emms? Hopefully we may get a couple of the 2012 Olympians to do it next year.

I had no idea actor Neil McDermott was in the running for Strictly this year. It makes sense though as he has a popular fan following after his time on EastEnders, and he's young and good looking PLUS this could really help boost his acting career and profile.

Christine Ohurougo is giving up on this year in order to save herself for 2012. Maybe she could be tempted to do Strictly either this year (during her break) or next (as a post Olympic celebration)?

She'd be very good, I think.

Another female athlete I wouldn't mind seeing is Fiona May.

She famously switched from representing the UK to representing Italy (after marrying an Italian citizen) and went on to become Italy's best female athlete.

Fiona May has already competed in the Italian version Ballando con le stelle and won.

I really should have known that.

She is big business in Italy- she's had far more success there than had she stayed in Britain. She appears in films and all sorts nowadays.

Christine is competing at the World championships this week - she's not at her best at the moment but still going. Anyway Christine (along with every other 2012 hopeful from all Olympic sports will be training so totally unrealistic).

Fiona May was a great athlete. If they had introduced funding for British athletes a few years earlier I think she would have continued to compete for Britain.

Agree with this completely Jan, (how are you btw!) - but like you, am prepared to be wrong.
