80's star Kim Wilde has just released an album of covers called Snapshots & I have to say that she sounds as good as she did in the 80's.

Track listing

1. It's Alright
2. In Between Days
3. About You Now
4. Sleeping Satellite
5. To France
6. A Little Respect
7. Remember Me
8. Anyone Who Had A Heart
9.Wonderful Life
10. They Don't Know
11. Beautiful Ones
12. Just What I Needed
13. Ever Fallen In Love
14. Kooks (Duett with Hal Fowler)

Welcome back Kim .

I'd rather she'd done a originals album again, her version of Its Alright is sadly terrible.

I remember it as Tracey Ullman. Did Kirsty write it?

Yip it's Kirstys song, she wrote it and sang it first and also sang the high parts on Traceys version. Love Kirsty's version the best, though Tracey did it justice too!

ADORE Kim and her comeback albums - Never Say Never & Come Out & Play are brilliant, but the production of this album is slightly dated and her voice isn't sounding as good as the last 2. I fear it's a cheap cash-in - no writing necessary just a few days in a studio. Sleeping Satellite I had high hopes for but it doesn't suit her voice.

I'm always a bit cautious when an artist does an album of covers - I always think they must be running out of ideas. Willing to give it a go though

Sometimes covers albums can work, but other times it's a bit wtf. There needs to be some connection with the music, but most singers and bands will slot in a few covers when they tour, and if they like the song enough, why not record it?

There's something charming about Kim Wilde. She's not the best singer out there, but I like how she sings, although I'm a bit undecided about this album listening to that YouTube clip. In some ways the choices are inspired, but in other ways it's shocking. The production does sound a bit cheap, but at least the songs aren't all straight covers and having a bit of a euro-disco beat behind them gives some continuity to the album. They are good songs she's picked at least. There is nothing worse than a covers album with really dull songs. There's no excuse.

I don't think I've ever heard a decent covers album.

Still not heard any of this album. I hear it's getting mixed reviews but gotta say, I was a bit dishearten to find out this was a covers album.
But Kim has proved in the past she can pull off a decent cover (You Keep Me Hangin' On), so I'm hoping even just one track will have that factor. Really, really wanna hear A Little Respect and They Don't Know (Tracy's version was best btw, as it had Tracy and Kirsty).

actually, just in the mood for a bit of Tracy Ullman (grabs hairbrush).

Sleeping Satellite and Ever Fallen in Love? were among my fave songs of those decades so I am curious to hear Kim's versions. I am prepared that her version of the latter song may sound more like Fine Young Cannibals than the Buzzcocks.

Kim herself had 2 of my fave songs of the decade, with Kids in America and Rage to Love.

I always preferred To France to Moonlight Shadow.

i take it you havent heard tom jones - reload, mark ronson - version, annie lennox - medusa or agnetha fältskog - my colouring book? all pretty good cover albums. i have heard the previews for kim`s attempt. it is seriously lame, dated and lacklustre. sorry people, i really don't like what i have heard!
