Didn't realise that Channel 4 were showing this, I was looking for it on the Beeb.

Surprisingly, Micheal Johnson is on it with Ortis Deely, they've got John Rawlings on the commentry.

It seems a bit odd not being on the BBC, but it's better than nothing.

Ortis looks a bit out of his depth, unfortunately.

The actual action is fine though, Rawlings is an experienced athletics commentator.

Nice HD as well. Eurosport surprisingly don't have an HD feed.

Just like BBC's coverage!! Whilst eurosport is showing live athletics, C4 spend all their time 'bigging up' a Brit, who then sadly goes and gets DQed.

I've got a little tired of the "usual suspects" in the BBC commentary and punditry team.
Too many and too much rabbit.

This makes a "refreshing change."

Nice of C4 to show some athletics in between the adverts. This is the third break in less than 30 minutes.
I'm off to Eurosport.

ORTIS....what on earth is this guy from The Gadget Show doing as a presenter on athletics... Totally wrong...making numerous mistakes / keeps constantly looking down at his notes / getting peoples names mixed up / nervous ..doesn't look at all relaxed...

I wouldn't give him much hope for a second appearance...

....suggest you go back to gadgets and play an athletics game on your iPhone Ortis...

Just OMG! I've been around a lot longer than most but, I have NEVER seen ANYONE dominate the 100ms the way that guy does. Fantastic athlete. As Michael Johnson just said "give him the medal now"! Regardless of the channel that was a privilege to watch.

To be fair C4 showed the 30 minute long Ladies 10000 m without a break.

Cracking race it was too.

There weren't any ad breaks during the marathon at 3am either - another cracking race, especially when the winner was tripped up by her own teammate at one point!

The girl doing the interviews is not great - after Lee McConnell got through her heat, the first thing the interviewer (Sonia?) asked was about Christine Ohurogu - didn't even congratulate Lee for getting through!

I missed that as I was sitting in the car at Sainsburys.

I think that he was in awe of Micheal Johnson, definitely nervous.

I found it a bit uncomfortable. I felt nervous for him.

Terrific visual coverage, shame about the commentaries.

I'm reminded of the BBC4 panel game "Just a Minute" as the commentary seems incessant.
With the panel game they only had to speak without a break for one minute.

This lot seem to be able to keep it going for hours on end, though they'd be disqualified from the "game" because of the constant repetitions, even down to single words. "This run will, hurt, hurt, hurt." ......I'll say it does.

I blame Brendan Foster. He's the worst and everyone else copies him.

Dean Macey is terrible. Just STFU!!!

Who is being the broadcasting because I haven't seen a proper line up for a race yet where the camera stays on each lane/competitor while their details are on screen.
They only seem to concentrate on the suspected top three.

Very disappointed this is not on the BBC. I love athletics - don't think I've ever missed watching a major championship but I just can't deal with the terrible presenters and ads on C4. Hope this is not a sign of things to come.

I'd imagine for the most part, they are taking the host feed, I tend to record it and fast forward through the "rabbit."

If the BBC were doing this it would be far more "professional" but cost a fortune. The difference isn't worth that sort of money, I'm not in favour of them throwing money at particular sports events when the rest of the programming gets steadily worse.
I find the visual coverage on C4 adequate. Looking good in HD. All the start lists and results are shown.

The girl interviewing the athletes as they leave the track ( Sabrina? ) as far as I knew was still working for BBC news, on the sports desk.

Dunno how that works?

How many opportunities do you need? There were plenty!

"I'm reliably informed" that by the time of the Olympics, the female competitors' kit will be be reduced to such a minimum, that their numbers and sponsors' logos will appear as tattoos.

Yeah, that's it! Sonia/Sonja.

Dunno why she would move to C4?

Unless they will be showing a lot of athletics from now on.

I was surprised Michael Johnson suggested that Ussain Bolt should have appealed his disqualification in the 100mtrs.
I knew it, the crowd knew it and most importantly Bolt knew it, as he immediately removed his shirt.

Appealing would have been a waste of time and diminished his continuing popularity in the athletics world.
I admired him for immediately anticipating that he'd be "red carded."

It was interesting to read this comment on a BBC web page..

The false-start rule that saw Usain Bolt disqualified from the World Championships 100m final will be discussed by the IAAF next Sunday.

A spokesman for the world athletics governing body said the rule, which was introduced in 2010, "could be changed".

"It would be pending official approval by the congress. It's possible but I can't speculate," he told BBC Sport.

Hang on a minute. We've gone from;

One fault start and you'll be out if you make another.

To;

One false start, you're still in, but anyone will be out if there's another.

To presently;

One false start and your out.

This progression was to stop some competitors continually anticipating the gun and it dramatically cut down the number of false starts.

So why think about back-tracking now?

Or is it about money?

I think I just hate change because I miss the BBC team and I hate all of the adverts.

Amazed MJ is on the Channel 4 team.

And for me, the BEEB lost the Plot with there coverage, many years ago....eurosport for me every time, and now C4.
