I was surprised Michael Johnson suggested that Ussain Bolt should have appealed his disqualification in the 100mtrs.
I knew it, the crowd knew it and most importantly Bolt knew it, as he immediately removed his shirt.
Appealing would have been a waste of time and diminished his continuing popularity in the athletics world.
I admired him for immediately anticipating that he'd be "red carded."
It was interesting to read this comment on a BBC web page..
The false-start rule that saw Usain Bolt disqualified from the World Championships 100m final will be discussed by the IAAF next Sunday.
A spokesman for the world athletics governing body said the rule, which was introduced in 2010, "could be changed".
"It would be pending official approval by the congress. It's possible but I can't speculate," he told BBC Sport.
Hang on a minute. We've gone from;
One fault start and you'll be out if you make another.
To;
One false start, you're still in, but anyone will be out if there's another.
To presently;
One false start and your out.
This progression was to stop some competitors continually anticipating the gun and it dramatically cut down the number of false starts.
So why think about back-tracking now?
Or is it about money?
