it evolved to Edward calling it the Appreciation Trend, yeah, I don't think the really do lurk here. There is a new AT gang now! They've been known to lurk JedGen forums. But here doesn't come up on a general "Jedward" google search much because we insisted they change the thread title back to the John and Edward Appreciation Thread when they created a new part and tried to change it to Jedward! no fans ever really call them that, it's all John, Edward, the boys or the twins!

Heh, this reminds me of Blondie (the band) having badges made with "Blondie is a band" after people started thinking that Debbie Harry was called Blondie.

I think of "Jedward" as the name of the pop duo (but also other creative projects involving the pair). Jedward is more hair-up, John and Edward are more hair down (if that makes sense).

So weird but lovely to have so many pages of stuff to catch up on here!

For ages I just followed a few actors and writers I was interested in, it never really occurred to me to tweet back to them! Now I'll tweet anyone! chatted rabbits with Paul Daniels one morning - most surreal!

I wish uber sharp witty Edward would talk more clearly on the panel shows they get invited on to. He does come out with it but he practically whispers! Being in character in the girl band set him free a bit I think!

The Jedward thing is interesting..in the past when they were just on my radar, but I didnt know much about them, I never thought of them as anything else..but now I see them as John and Edward...and its almost as if Jedward is something they become when they are in performance mode..

What a lovely interview..its so sweet how in sync they are with each other, and how much quieter they are without the other sitting beside them..

One thing I noticed in CBB which I thought was so cute, when they went into the diary room alone during the band task...each left a space in the chair where the other would normally be sitting...

That interview has all the classics in it - "worser", "John: what was the question again?" (that one ALWAYS makes me laugh) and - of course - "Britney SPEARS".

I like it when they're interviewed separately, I think it does make them think a bit more about what they're saying. And the interview reinforces for me that they are identical. Even though they're not the same, if that makes any sense. Which it doesn't.

Oh, yes, the Appreciation TREND!! That was what I couldn't remember! It's a much better name that Appreciation Thread anyway.

Haha^ I noticed that too! Edward sat on the slight left of the chair and John on the slight right. They never sat bang in the middle.

I love it when they leave room for each other in the chair when they are on their own! aw!

and Ha It was my idea to have them do the portraits! I remember tweeting the journo about it and for once I actually got a reply! Now if only I could get someone to take my hair experiment semi seriously!

I love that John knows he's Edward's most treasure possession and that that's true the other way round too!

They are Jedward at a concert, everywhere else they are John and Edward!

Also, I've just read over the last few pages and the twin discussion.

My opinion: I don't think they are fraternal twins. They just look so different from each other to us because we "know" them so well. It's the same with all identical twins. They look the same at first, but as you get to know them, you spot the difference and they can't fool you ever again. My cousin's nieces are identical twins and although they have the same features, no one ever has touble telling them apart. Their smiles and facial expressions are so different! It would be impossible to mix them up. John and Edward look way more alike than them!

Surely their mother wouldn't have said they're fraternal lol..didn't the boys say they were born from one egg?

Also, they look the same as children, but in the early teens, they look different, which is likely due to the adolescent changes that everyone (even twins) experience at different stages. Different lifestyles, diet and exercise also contribute.

If fraternal twins are born from different eggs, than their DNA would be different, due to the random process. So they wouldn't look alike surely?

Having said that, I did hear that the Olsen twins were fraternal, which sounds insane lol. Also, I've always felt John looks like John senior lol, but Edward doesn't!

I've known a set of identical twins since I was 6 and they look so different to me because I've known them so long but other people can't tell the difference between them at all, and it seems crazy to me lol.

I totally agree, the first time I saw them, in ESC, they were completely similar to me. And after that, when I watched the XF performances, my untrained eyes just could distinguish them if they were wearing different clothes.

And I also think that they look more different now that a few years ago.

Edit: I bet that for any untrained eyes, this pic wouldn't help them a lot

Definitely Edward on our left (with hat & V signs) & John on our right. Their mouths are different shapes too, as well as their eyes. E's are smilier, if that makes sense?

What does everyone think of them possibly representing Ireland in ESC again?

I think they'll have an amazing chance of winning this time if they did - they've gotten so many European fans since May and have been doing so much promotion around Europe.

In my opinion it depends on the song because they're fantastic performers and have an interesting fan base in some European countries, but a catchy song gives you that little push for reaching a top10.
I don't know if they could win, because Eurovision is much more than a simple song contest (If only Ireland had more neighbours...), but it could be good for them reaching even more countries/viewers

The Olsens are an interesting case. If you go to the 'discussion' page for their WP entry, there's a verrry long argument between various WP editors on this point. As you say, fraternal twins generally only look as similar to each other as regular siblings do. Pretty much the that only thing pointing in the direction of the Olsens being fraternal is their own comments, but thing about the Olsens is I'm pretty sure they've also said they haven't been DNA tested, so they have not reliable proof.

Like that Slate article said, identicals often think they're fraternals, but fraternals seem never to mistake themselves for identicals. I think in the Olsens case, it's an identity thing, because they want to think of themselves as individuals.

(Btw, I agree on John looking like John Snr. Again it's all in the facial expression and, from what I've seen, John is quite like his Dad in personality)

I think they're identical too. I couldn't tell them apart for ages. It took me so long to be able to tell them apart, it was embarrassing and I even got them mixed up last week on here because they were wearing each others jackets!
