Of course, they're trending worldwide in just a few minutes

It's all teamwork. Irish fans work for making them win the Eurosong, and the rest of the European fans can return the favour in ESC

It has to be done!

I can see a fair few people kicking up a fuss about them doing it again. Johnny Logan for one who was a rotten critic of Jedward this year. However, the man has represented Ireland at Eurovision more than one himself. More than twice, IIRC? Yeah, yeah, he did win one year, but that was then, this is now.

I wonder who the U.K. will send next year?

AND isn't it about time Digital Spy opened up their Eurovision Forum again now we have something to talk about? Now Jedward have thrown down the gauntlet on their national tv station last Friday and on Twitter saying they really want to do this. I can see Edward as the driving force behind this (with John completely in agreement) and we all know what Edward wants, Edward gets.

It's all about the money (advertising). The twins bring money for people who write about them — Fox will want a slice of that. Richard Desmond's organisations are having some of it — quite a lot of it considering Channel 5 had them on CBB and their magazine show (often) and now using them to front a weekly column for OK. Publicity is everything! I worked for Richard Desmond and, um. yeah. Not the most pleasant character I have worked for, that is all. But he did pay me money, so there we have it. We do what we can to get by. And then I went on to work for Associated News (think Daily Mail) which is an equally rotten organisation.

Never mind I think Fox is a dastardly part of the New World Order. The twins will hit and run and take what they can from Fox. That is all wot matters, init?”

You are right, Floh. Fox is big and any mention anywhere about John and Edward is, in the end, a good thing. I just wonder why an affiliate in Kansas City would write such a comprehensive piece on the twins. Is the writer hoping it will be picked up by the other affiliates? If so... this is great!

Is groundwork being laid for the twins in the US? I have no idea what is going on, but I must say it is certainly interesting.

We could always resurrect the 'Jedward going to Win Eurovision for Ireland' thread again, if the forum doesn't reopen. It was saved when the Eurovision forum closed but is lost somewhere in the TV forum.

If they do decided Jedward will represent withough having to go through the competition to do so as they did last year, I could see them doing this for a Song for Jedward Eurovision. Not sure it's the best idea, to be honest.”

Interestingly all of the songs Lena performed in the German Eurovision selection (12 in total) were on her first album.

I don't think Jedward would perform 12 songs in Eurosong 2012 though, more likely four or five. (There would definitely be a national final....Ireland has held one every year since 1965).

Yeah I think they are identical twins too it took a few day for me to accurately tell them apart. they are Edward and John in that picture btw.

I think there will be a Eurosong contest Disnae, but with Jedward as the sole invited act. Given the level of their fame, I can't see how they could compete in a regular national final.

I was also hoping that they could forego the Eurosong Contest.

Last year's was a real nail-biter!

I hope so, as my nerves couldn't take another Eurosong like last time! If this is happening, Louis is probably, even now, trying to find decent material for Eurovision.

Logan won it twice as a performer and twice as a writer, I think. I don't see him kicking up a fuss this time though. He got a lot of flak for it last time and he knows enough about ESC to know J&E got us the sort of placing no other act could this year. (The mention of Logan reminds me of John's quip about how "he should go eat some nuggets or something" - Ioved that!)

I'd also have some reservations about a public vote to pick the Eurovision song, rather than the act. I'm not sure Irish musical tastes are all that in tune with taste across Europe more generally (UK tastes aren't either). There was an interesting column on this subject in the IT after ESC, as I recall.

Edit: Here's the article. It's by the guy who wrote our entry in 2007. Don't agree with it all, but he does make some interesting points about the distinctiveness of Eastern European musical tastes, in particular, and how countries like Ireland don't always quite 'get' them http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/...297354823.html

I wouldn't be too bothered on that score silverhand : the songs are bound to be all uptempo Scandinavian pop, so picking a dreary ballad wouldn't be an option

Even the run up, with all the furor over the leaked song, was anxiety provoking! I thought they were going to be disqualified at one point and it would've been through no fault of their own. *touch wood* that would never happen again!

True. I suppose, it will depend on who chooses the options the public are given to vote on. And, if the twins are the selected act, it would be easy to justify shortlisting songs that would suit their style and image.

All of the shortlisted song in the year Dervish were the selected act were pretty dire though.

Presumably the songs will all be tracks off the follow up album to Victory, and written by the usual Scandinavian / British team (I very much doubt RTE would open up a songwriting competition to the public for Jedward as happened with Dervish.....that's where they went wrong, they should have allowed Dervish perform tracks off their own album).

(Just catching up with the pages I missed while I was out. )

Yes, that's what the interview was called! It must have disappeared when JedGen's original youtube was deleted by the forces of darkness.

Pity it's not online. It's one of the links I like to pull out (along with the epic Joe Jackson interview from the Irish Indo earlier this year) when I want to demonstrate to people that there's a lot more to J&E than meets the eye and that they're nobody's fools.

Using some of the writers from Victory would be ideal really, though I wonder how far along they are with planning on the follow up album (if there has been any work on that at all)? Of course, there may also be songs of the same sort and from the same writers that were considered for, but not included on, Victory that would work for ESC.

I know - it's a great interview...you could always buy it...

I think that would be brill, I'm hoping that they're already well-underway. Although they have a mega-hectic schedule, they don't exactly appear to need as much sleep as us mere mortals, besides there's nothing to say these things can't be done via e-mail etc...those boys live in virtual reality as much as real life...

Yes, wish there were more interviews like that.

Problem with buying it is that I don't actually own a DVD player! Maybe I'll buy a copy and send it as a 'present' to a relative who has a DVD player - preferably a relative who also knows how to download clips and upload them to youtube . *evil laugh*

Pfft! New-fangled rubbish! I still do all my writing on vellum with a quill pen, you know. I think of printing as a technological innovation too far and long for the era where graphic design skills were principally displayed on cave walls
