So true! I'm glad they didn't do that in a way, because I don't think John & Edward would ever want to be a sympathy act, but they definitely could've touched on it a little bit more, especially in the later stages to show just how much courage it must've taken them to continuously get up on stage after their treatment by the audience and in the media. It's definitely a better story than "I live in a small village in Wales" anyway - looking at you, Lucie Jones

Even if they were just marketed as people who are aware they don't have the best voices but are willing to put in the effort to put on a great performance, I think things would be much more different for them in the UK now. Even though their live show VT edits seemed a lot more fair, the only times we really got to see that they fully knew they weren't amazing singers was when they were being interviewed live by Dermot or Holly.
Only seen a few of the audition shows, but I've seen a lot of people get through without criticism who aren't any better than the twins were in their first audition.
Do you have a link for that twins interview please? It rings a bell but I can't fully remember seeing it.
