Is anyone watching this years X Factor? It strikes me again how powerful the edit is, and how much spin they put on each audition.

Just imagine that the twins had been introduced with a VT about how they'd been bullied at school for being different, with sad music playing over the intro. Then the judges would have praised how brave they were to get up on the stage, and it would probably have been four yesses and a triumphant blast of Leona Lewis as they walked off.

It's just so to see so many mediocre singers sail through their auditions when they've been aided by a weepy intro. In one case a teenage boy was being applauded and cried over for not being a thug at that moment in time. I can't believe some people are actually taken in by this.

Anyway, I just watched the First.tv interview where John and Edward got interviewed by girl twins. I think it's my favourite interview so far, though I thought the girl twins talked a bit too much for interviewers!

So true! I'm glad they didn't do that in a way, because I don't think John & Edward would ever want to be a sympathy act, but they definitely could've touched on it a little bit more, especially in the later stages to show just how much courage it must've taken them to continuously get up on stage after their treatment by the audience and in the media. It's definitely a better story than "I live in a small village in Wales" anyway - looking at you, Lucie Jones
Even if they were just marketed as people who are aware they don't have the best voices but are willing to put in the effort to put on a great performance, I think things would be much more different for them in the UK now. Even though their live show VT edits seemed a lot more fair, the only times we really got to see that they fully knew they weren't amazing singers was when they were being interviewed live by Dermot or Holly.
Only seen a few of the audition shows, but I've seen a lot of people get through without criticism who aren't any better than the twins were in their first audition.

Thanks I don't think I've seen the full interview then, that website hardly makes it easy to find it. I'll watch it now - good thing I've not got 6th form until the afternoon tomorrow, but I love when they have long interviews. It lets them ramble for longer

Loved them bombarding Ed Sheeran with questions on Radio 1 too, I remember browsing Twitter a few months ago and ending up on his page, he'd retweeted a load of their tweets and followed it with "Jedward are on crack"

Thanks for the link Jerrica! I hadn't realised there was a long version of that interview - I had only ever seen the youtube clip. It's such nice interview, really relaxed and chatty. They were pretty darn impressed when the two girls walked in, weren't they? lol.

Watching that, it also struck me how much thinner Edward became after his injury. I often use the fact his face is narrower to tell them apart, but that wasn't at all true at the time of this interview. They look a lot more identical here (though their facial expressions are as distinctive as ever).

Sounds like their Hamburg gig went well tonight - though poor Liam seems to have hurt himself quite badly moving cases afterwards. Injuries seem to follow them around!

I had a dream last night that they were quitting show business because Louis said it would help their career. I was so upset that they came to my house and ate my dog No wonder I was in a weird mood when I woke up this morning!

I'm missing having them near and posting tweets and videos all of the time! Heck, I'm missing watching them on my TV screen everynight! D: But I'm still really proud of them People thought that they would die away after the x factor, but I honestly think that they are one of the most successful acts to ever come out of it! Leona and JLS are great singers, but what is so interesting about that? John and Edward have the x factor!

I watched XF last night and one of the female judges( I forget which) said how they are looking for a star who will sell records throughout the world and I felt more than a bit smug that Jedward are achieving that right now!
