I have started getting phone calls in which as soon as i answer they put the phone down. It shows up on mobile as unknown and landline as caller withheld. I would like to know how i can get these stopped. Any help will be much appreciated

If these calls are 'Nuisance calls' then advise the respective telecoms companies, and they will give you the action to take.

If your landline is with BT, they offer a service which blocks calls from anonymous numbers. I think it costs about £3.

It depends where the calls come from.I used to get loads of these calls,usually emanating from call centres that use "Power dialer"software that rings lots of numbers and offers them to the call centre staff who may not pick them up in time so you get nobody at the other end of the phone.You can bar anonymous numbers on BT and probably other providers offer this service but it usually costs money.Sadly it doesn't usually work for overseas numbers.They are a pain in the neck.There are companies that claim to be able to block these numbers and also report those who try calling numbers registered with TPS but they almost present themselves as an official body but they aren't and they want £39 a year for their service.I simply don't answer witheld numbers any more.
