O2 Top-Up Surprises to END on 31st August
DXRulz
28-08-2011
As announced by text when you top-up and on the website, it will be coming to an end on 31st August.

I think this is good because all the prizes seem to be now is vouchers most people wouldn't use!

Besides this, are there any more changes anyone is aware of?

It was good at the beginning but they killed it off themselves really!

I used to love getting free internet/texts/calls etc, but now I only get the free music download. I wonder what they will be replacing it with, if anything.

Priority moments seems to be the thing they are pushing at the moment so I think that's probably replacing it

As a contract customer I'm fairly happy it's ending. They never let me pick any ducks or gave me any rewards when I paid my contract bill so why should pay as you go customers have all the fun

Good riddance to the o2 top up surprises!!

You need to text MOMENTS to 2020 - this is far better.

Have been with O2 for 10 years, until june 2011. Moved to 3 via a quidco deal, which was 10 quid for the month, for 300 mins, 3000 texts and 1gb data, and also 55 quid cashback. Total 5.41 quid a month for the first year. O2 Sim is not competitive any more, they just dont include data hardly, only as a top up. Gif gaff on sim only is better value for money, and its on the o2 network. A no brainer really. Took 2 days to transfer my number from O2 to 3.

How is moments better? Are they going to send someone round to give you a massage or cook a meal for you? I'm just wondering if it's just moving the crap to another field of crap

You would think O2 would look at what their competitors were offering and try to match or beat them but they seem to not give a stuff. The majority of the people I speak to that have moved to 3 over the last couple or so years are disgruntled O2 customers.

Sorry I'm late on this thread just discovered the surprises have come to an end. They were offering poor ones towards the end anyway. The best I ever got was some free minutes and the discounts were all like sites online offering discounts which you can get anywhere.

I am one of those disgruntled o2 customers. In the area around where I live in all the years I was with them I had a 3G signal on a handful of occasions and I was persistently getting dropped calls as my signal would disappear suddenly! Since moving to 3 just over a week ago, I've had 3G wherever I go and no dropped calls at all. I've also had a couple of issues recently with customer service when I was given incorrect information twice. o2 used to have the very best customer service which is why I stayed with them for so long, but sadly that no longer seems to be the case.

Such a shame, they where useless, I got totally useless stuff like free messages when I already had 500 a month, I've never used more than 10 a month.

I moved to 3 back in October and it's much better. As you say the 3g coverage is superb. i work all over the country so having a 3g signal is a must and I've not been disappointed.

Moving from O2 was a mare. Had to pay them £15 to get my phone unlocked which they did in less than 24 hours. [they mention it can take up to 14 days] but they didn't debit my account. 4 days later when I rang to question why, was told they decided to do it for free and the £15 was non refundable. The cheeky geezer at the end of the phone then told me that it was my own fault for choosing to leave them. I told him a few choice words and informed him of the complaint that would be heading to his supervisor.

I had text, email and written replies from them apologising but they still wouldn't refund my cash. then they wonder why they're losing so much custom.
