London Meetup & John James Parton's Birthday Celebration Reports - Part 1
Quote:
Would just like to say thank you to Little Girl of 7 - Kelly - for arranging the meet in London today and for the little touches she brought to it. Would also like to thank Phil, Cathy, Joyce, Kirsty, Annette, Kay, Jan, Rosie, Kelly, Alma, LynR, Marion, Laura, Nicky Jane and last but not least my understanding hubs for their beautiful company today
![]() Quote:
can I add my thanks to that as well, it was lovely to meet up with everyone, friends old and new, and thank you so much Kelly for arranging it all..

Just a quick message from Alma to everyone at the John James meet in London. I got home safely. but not until nearly 10.00. Traffic was terrible. I wish I had stayed up there with you lot, as I got back and son not going back to the 2 day motocross meeting tomorrow because he hurt his chest.
I really did not want to leave - just getting into having a good chat with everyone. Really enjoyed meeting everyone again and especially seeing people I had not met before such as Wendilums and Tynetart. Can I just say everyone was really nice and friendly and although the event was held in the name of John James birthday, it was really a good excuse to meet everyone and have a good old natter. Talked about everything under the sun including Josie I may add and there was not a nasty word said at all, which is as it should be because virtually everyone at the meeting either posts regularly on this thread or has done in the past. One plea though, if we have any other meets can it be in an easier place to get to... although I did get to see many parts of London that I had never been to before as the satnav directed me to central London across the river down one side of the bank over the river again and then back down the other bank (I think it was the scenic route) - so have an almighty headache now and I didn't even have anything to drink. Can I just say thanks to Little Girl of Seven for organising and here's to another one soon. love Alma Quote:
Evening/morning.
![]() I did actually get home a little before midnight but I've just been slow to post. I'm far too tired to write anything coherent now so I'll do a proper post next time I'm on. You'll have to wait to hear tales of an over amorous Itailan man, the dangers of channel hopping and how John James literally set me on fire. In the meantime, it was a great meet. Thanks to everyone who came and helped raise over £200 on the day. ![]() Quote:
GOOD MORNING EVERYONE
London Meet August 27th 2011 First of all I would like to thank Kelly (Little Girl of Seven) for arranging everything for us all, Kelly once again thank you ![]() Hubs and I set off to catch the 9.20am train to Paddington. Unfortunately someone failed to inform me the chuffin train had been cancelled........ few fags later and we were boarding the 9.58am. Tube and DLR later and we made our way to the venue on foot. En route the heavens opened, walking through the college grounds there was a beautiful bridesmaid with no umbrella - I really felt for her and the lovely bride on her special day. ![]() Arrived with plenty of time to spare, found a lovely restaurant to the rear of the venue. We sat there eating cod, chips and garden peas, swilled down with a diet cola and a guiness for hubs. At approx. 1.20pm we made our way to the front to a lovely pub set by the side of the Thames - plenty of seating outside and in. As we approached the front of the building I could hear Rosie call out - 'It's Wendy isn't it?', of course some had had the benefit of our Kay and Phil's pics whereas I knew some faces via pictures on the thread or tw*tter but not all. We sat outside waiting for a few more lovely ladies to turn up before giving up to the winds and torrential rain and making our way indoors. Kelly had added extra touches to the meet, a birthday cake lit at precisely 3pm our time, badges with Happy Birthday John James and we even had a raffle with several prizes, all monies going to Cancer Charity - well done Kelly!!! At no point did I hear any derogitory remarks made regarding either John or Josie. Everyone at the meet obviously holds both in high regard. Only briefly did we chew over the fat - in a light and fluffy way - but on the whole we were there there to celebrate that beautiful, most forthright, opinionated, argumentative soul, John James Parton and of course to meet up with our cyber friends It was lovely meeting with all the lovely ladies, Cathy and Joyce had flown in all the way from Scotland, others from around England. Of course I had my ciggie breaks - joined by the usual suspects who also partake in the naughty habit lol. We had a laugh, we took over three large tables in the pub and unfortunately I didn't manage to have a chat to a few of the ladies. Laura, Nicky Jane, Marion, and Jan, I only talked to you very briefly and I apologise for that, next time hopefully we can have a good old chinwag and get to know each other. At 6.30pm it was time for hubs and I to leave. I have to thank hubs for accompaning me to the meet. I wouldn't have made the long trip on my own and he gave up his afternoon in front of Sky Sports to come with me - believe you me that is a BIG sacrifice for him to make - (Reading FC were playing away). He was the only male there, sat in the corner with his guiness to hand and let me get on with it. Not many men would do that. Paul thank you love. We made our way back to the DLR - stood opposite having one last ciggie before our long journey and hubs noticed MacDonalds next to the rail entrance. Shall we he said. Ohhhhhhhhhh go on then was my reply. I thought how fitting, John James birthday and I'm eating in his favourite restaurant. So Parton Pants, I raised my Big Mac to you and wished you a Happy 26th in the way I know would make you smile. And you know what - I didn't give a rip what others thought ![]() Unfortunately on the way home the tubes weren't running how we would have liked - we made it home at 10.40pm. Rather windswept and desheveled but totally content at having met such a lovely bunch of peeps. Thank you to everyone at the meet, you made hubs and I feel truly welcomed. I raise my glass to 26 year old John James Parton - we miss you over here in the good old Uk John. Quote:
It was lovely to meet you, and hopefully we will get a chance to all meet up again. I realised you missed someone off the list, but I didnt catch her name either, the blonde lady in the black coat with a smilely face from the loys....?
I know its so hard to get to chat to everyone at these things.. In Bristol I got totally daunted meeting everyone in the lobby, and getting to know the girl I was sharing a room with etc so by the evening I was almost totally chatted out and ended up sitting quietly on the table next to Phil!!! And it wasnt until the next day on the way home that I wished Id made the effort to talk to more people!!! It was lovely to meet Annette, and to compare notes on Geordie shore from her locality of newcastle and TOWIE from Essex. !!! And to compare things like... living in Essex I know about the area where TOWIE is set, its the same area Brentwood/ chigwell/ chingford triangle, that Birds of a feather is set in, It is actually a pretty affluent commuter area..... so I hope that everyone realises that TOWIE isnt remotely typical of Essex people. ( Im sure they dont really!!!) But Id also like to point out that the young people in TOWIE are also a lot richer than most people in Essex,!!! if you have the money to regularly visit the gym, spend masses of money on hair and beauty products and the latest designer clothes, and to have your hands manicured on a regular basis, then you come from a family with plenty of money!!! And some of the attraction of the programme is in seeing the clash between the nueveaux riche, and traditional and established money.... and the values and judgements each group have....... And because of the differences...people clash and make judgements about each other and the things that they do.... And I did wonder whether something like that is occurring with Josie and John James and some of her fans..?...

London Meetup & John James Parton's Birthday Celebration Reports - Part 2
Quote:
Afternoon everyone.
![]() So...yesterday. Anything happen? ![]() After 2 months of planning, the birthday meet in London finally came round. I left the house at 11:25am and returned at 11:26am. I realised very quickly that the shoes I was wearing were going to be a problem on the way there so I had to go back and change them...and instead have problems on the way home (Big blister. Blood. Ouch.). The weather seemed to be holding out, much to my relief. Until I got on the DLR and the skies suddenly came over very cloudy and grey. As the train rounded the corner towards Canary Wharf the view to the west came into sight. Much of the city was shrouded in a grey haze as it was being lashed by the heaviest rain I'd seen all week and it was heading east. Sure enough, by the time the train had gone a couple of more stops it was a monsoon! As you can imagine, my hopes of a dry and sunny al fresco meet had gone up the swanny. Anyway, I got to the station and muscled my way up the escalator to the exit when a man approached me asking if I had a couple of £1 coins. I was loaded up with 4 full bags of stuff with no chance of routing around for any spare change (which would've been fruitless anyway as I didn't have any), so just gestured that I really was in no position to help him and made my way out the station. It was still raining quite heavily so I hung around under cover near the station. After a while, the same man came round the corner and asked me again for the £1 coins he was seeking. He then shook his head and went, 'Are you the same beautiful girl I spoke to at the station?' It came out that he was Italian, a chef and he thought I was an actress, to the point that he even asked for my autograph!!! ![]() I should say that I explained I wasn't anyone remotely famous! He hung around a bit longer, telling me I looked intelligent because I'd matched my shoes with my dress and glasses (!!!!!!!!!!!!!). But then the rain finally eased and I slowly made my exit and left him to find those elusive £1 coins. Finally got to the venue in Greenwich just before 1pm and Laura and Marion were already there, sheltering under the canvas by the entrance. It was about the driest place outside, everywhere was just soaked. Over the passing hour, more people turned up and everyone got the traditional big robswifeJan hug on arrival. Here's Phils'... http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...eetJanPhil.jpg (^You can see how wet it was) Everyone also got a special badge when they made their donation... http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...thdayBadge.jpg It started to rain again so we all went inside, but as there were no free seats we ended up back outside again as soon as the rain stopped. It was coming up to 3pm (or midnight in Melbourne) so I was just about to get the birthday cake ready when Jan spotted that some people had left the pub, leaving the perfect space of us to sit down inside. Once in, I got the cake out and set the candles up... http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...rthdayCake.jpg It was here that things got a bit tricky. As I was lighting up John's name I managed to set fire to my thumb nail! Completely melted the tip! Then the candles went out before I got to the E and S so I had to start again but the candles were already losing their shape. Finally they were all lit and everyone sang happy birthday. I did try to film it but the battery on my camera ran out about halfway through the song. It's also why I don't have any more photos. But Laura got one with the candles actually lit up... http://yfrog.com/kizq1ibj They all melted pretty quickly after that so sadly no-one actually got to blow them out and make a wish. Then it was raffle time with some mystery prizes. Basically, the prizes were wrapped up and numbered 1-5. If your ticket was pulled out the bag, you then picked a ticket at random to get your prize. The winners: Rosie - A watch. Cathy - Retro design mug. Kay - The Sandlot DVD Jan - A glass picture frame Kirsty - Art Deco glasses Hope you enjoyed your prizes. ![]() After that we chatted away and the conversation tumbled into me explaining how I'd seen that Steve (yes, BB11 Steve) had recently worked with Billi Bhatti. Honestly, I would never have known at all had I not been channel hopping so randomly (which of course passed without any comment at all at the meet...*ahem*). Anyway, Phil's reaction was priceless. I won't repeat it here but it certainly broke the stunned silence. ![]() Later we headed to another pub just round the corner, which actually turned out to be nicer than the original venue. After 5 years I was oblivious to this other pub. If I'd known... After that it was time to make my merry way home. Though, not quite without incident. When me and Laura got off the train I took us out of the wrong exit. I was used to almost always getting off on the opposite platform at Limehouse and as both look exactly the same at night we went in completely the wrong direction on the way out. I even said to Laura, "I don't recognise these stairs! They're different!" Then I realised my mistake and we had to go back up again and go over the other side to the right exit. See now, I can tell you what happened on Day 44 but can I find my way out of a station...? ![]() To everyone that came and donated, thank you. Hope you all enjoyed yourselves. It was a pleasure to arrange. ![]() |

London Meetup & John James Parton's Birthday Celebration Reports - Part 3
Quote:
London Meet Evening everyone! First things first: A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JOHN JAMES PARTON Hope you had a good one. Just spent a great weekend with some wonderful JJJATers: meeting up with old friends, making new ones and becoming closer to some I’d never met but who felt like old friends. A big thank you to Kelly for organising the meet in a wonderful part of London and for putting so much hard work into helping us celebrate John’s birthday and raising money for charity. Oh, us JJJATers can yackety yack as you know, putting the world of JJJ to rights. ![]() Not only did we manage to spend time talking constantly well into the early hours of Saturday morning, we then carried on the next morning at the hotel , then over breakfast and on the DLR until the moment we all parted at Canary Wharf station. During the course of the morning, I think the 6 of us who were left – me, Annie, Joyce, Cathy, Kirsty and the lovely Phil - mwahed each other goodbye at least 6 times whenever we thought we were about to go our separate ways: ![]() Must do a special big thank you to Rob and Jan who transported us in 2 lots to the hotel (where they also stayed), complete with suitcases and essential late night gossiping provisions . ![]() Annie and I had such a lovely time wondering around Canary Wharf and the London Docklands Museum, it resulted in me squandering all the goodwill I’d built up by getting her late to Heathrow so that she missed her flight. Very embarrassed about that but Annie’s so lovely it didn’t seem to phase her too much. Well done to me for squandering my efficiency gold stars accumulated to that point. Lots of photos taken by most of us which no doubt you will get to see in time – watch this space – I will try to do mine quicker this time. By the end we had all perfected our posing. ![]() Some special moments Meeting the lovely Annie in person at last – when at one time not that long ago it seemed this would never happen Cathy’s bear she made with its own beanie, its own blue stud earring, its own distinctive necklace – no idea at all who it was based on ![]() A lovely card from peggy. ![]() All of us sitting in Phil and Kirsty’s room keeping the rest of the hotel residents awake, no doubt, with all our chatting and laughter. Meeting Augusta, Kelly, Laura and Nicky Jane for the first time, and Rosie and Lyn for the second time. And of course, meeting our iccle Wendy again. Poor old hubs – I know mine wouldn’t have been that long-suffering. So well done to you, Paul, for putting up with us. Very shocked to see that you are all still on the same thread as when we left. Now you have concrete proof who the biggest yackers are  Kay xx It was a very unusual time for a thread change. In the past they have always just waited until the morning. Quote:
Hi Alma
It was fantastic meeting up with you again and hopefully we'll meet again soon. Great to see you posting more on the thread again too. Sorry you had such a bad journey home. Kay xx |

London Meetup & John James Parton's Birthday Celebration Reports - Part 4
Quote:
John James Birthday meet-up
Evening all ![]() It was a beautiful, sunny morning in Sussex when we (me, Lyn-r and NickyJane) left at 10.30 am to travel to London, but by the time we got on the DLR at Monument, the heavens opened and it p'd down!! This set the scene for most of the day, but were we downhearted?? No, we were not!! Kelly, Laura, Augusta and RobswifeJan were already there, and Kelly opened a tin of Celebrations (biiiiiig mistake to put them in front of me as I hadn't had any breakfast!!) ![]() After a while, I spotted Wendy (didn't need the Omegas, as I remembered what she looked like!! ) and Wendy'shusbandPaul. Then our two Scottish lasses, Joyce and Cathy turned up from the pub round the corner. Her Maj (Phil) kept us waiting for a while but eventually turned up along with Kirsty (Pumpkin) and after hugs all round and a bit of a natter, we then all adjourned to the pub as the rain and wind was really quite bad.At 3.00, Kelly lit the candles on John's birthday cake (I think they sang Happy Birthday to him, but Lyn and I were at the bar ordering some chips then!! )Fiiiinally, Kay and Annette arrived!! We were also joined by Alma (justexhausted) and Irina (from the Loys).Kelly had provided prizes for the raffle, and I was lucky enough to win a rather lovely watch - thank you Kelly!! After the cake was demolished, we all just talked and talked and talked, and I was glad to have the chance to chat with Annette and most of the other ladies. At one point, I thought we would be chucked out after much raucous laughter and smut filled one-liners concerning Kelly's *cough* channel-hopping *cough* exploits (or should that be sexploits??!! ![]() ![]() ![]() After a while, we decided to go to the pub round the corner for dinner, and Lyn and I had THE best everrrrrr Full English Breakfast - at 8.00 at night!! We left at about 9.30, made our way back to Victoria and saw NickyJane off on her train to Brighton. We caught ours at 10.54 and got home at around 11.45. Perfect end to a perfect day!!! Except hubby had left a key in the front door and I couldn't get in!! Back door was locked too, but Roxie soon woke him up with her barking!!! That'll teach him!!! ![]() I've added a link to my album of pics - there's not many - it was rather dark in the pub and even with the flash on I had low light on my camera - but you get the gist!!! I want to say a huuuuge thank you to Kelly for organising the meet and to everyone who turned up and made it such a great day, even if the weather didn't match our sunny mood!! But it was definitely worth it, and Cancer Research benefitted from our little get-together. Aaaand to the man who was the main reason we met up, John James Parton, I raise my glass of Coke and hope he had a great birthday!! Rosie xx http://www3.snapfish.co.uk/snapfishu...ME=snapfishuk/ |

Morning All
Well John did tweet and thank for his birthday wishes, He tweeted at around 4 a.m. uk time which means I think that he is still in oz. I feel rather sad that as he says he is not on twitter much anymore as I feel that we may never hear much from him anymore. With regard to Josie I only saw the start of BBBOTS and agree as soon as I saw Josie I could see that she was not her usual self, whether it being anger or sad. I also see that she only tweeted once and it was after midnight and it was just re show. I am still a positive polly sitting on the bench but after reading John's tweet I really think that he is not coming back to the uk and him and Josie may never sort out their differences which makes me very sad. Off to work now and maybe when I return I will feel better |

Morning all
I should have remembered to turn my phone off last night Still nice to be woken up with a tweet from John. I do wonder what would happen if no one ever tweeted him again (not going to happen I know). Would that be it as there would be nothing to thank people for.Still can't decide if it is just friendly banter or not between Josie and Jamie - something certainly didn't seem right with her last night. Suppose it can't be helped if they don't get on or there is a clash of personalities. It would be a perfect world if we all got on with everyone I have worked with quite a few people over the years who I haven't really got on with but that is life isn't it Thanks Barbara for bringing all the reports over here and thanks again to everyone for doing them. They are great to read. Gussie good to see you on here last night - hope you carry on posting

I agree with all, so lovely to hear from John! I hope he had a great day and all is well with him. I can kind of understand why he wanted out, maybe he's not the type that is comfortable with all the attention and what it brings... he did say he wanted to watch the wheels, good luck to him. Selfishly I want to know how he is and hear from him more often, but it is not expected by any means!
& hope all is okay with Josie! It is funny with her, she is like an open book, she may try and hide emotions, but she shows them as clear as day! |

I get Josie's and mentions ok, so don't know why? and I do have it set for 24 hrs. Don't suppose anyone has a reason for that do they?Anyway there you go, some getting upset for him not tweeting, and that he was never going to and others saying have patience. So am glad the patient ones were right. Of course really it hadn't occurred to him to tweet at all, he just thought he better had after reading the comments in the thread ![]() ![]() Actually although I was joking above, Went back and looked and his last 4 tweets have come each time after there was discussion on the thread about his lack of tweets and how he was being rude or disrespecting his fans....coincidence, I suppose. ![]()

I really don't think they dislike each other at all - it was something else annoying her, if she was annoyed about something. |

Just wanted to add that two of the supporters attending the show both said that Josie was not sad or upset about anything. She was really enjoying herself and having a great laugh with the audience and the rest of the team.
So that is good to hear. |

Good morning all
Very pleased to see a tweet from John James - he clearly reads his timeline. I wonder what his reason is for keeping twitter if he doesnt use it any more - I see it as the only link left to his life in the UK and if he isnt coming back why not cut that last tie?? Also watched Jose on BBBits - something was definitely wrong last night - she had that sad look, something was upsetting her - unless she was just very tired from the festival and if she had been drinking for the first time in a couple of months that might have played a part but something wasnt right - she has also been very quiet on twitter. I've always been a bit of a reuniter but I think its time I accepted it isnt going to happen - I feel as sad as Josie looked ![]() think I'll go and listen to a bit of Adele and really cheer myself up lol ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() On a cheerier note I'm going to see The Inbetweeners Movie this afternoon with hubby - sending the kids in to see the Smurf Movie as The Inbetweeners is rated a 15!!!!! |

I saw you all still have his tweets on alert!
![]() Don't understand I have John alerts to my mobile as well, but the last 3 times he has tweeted it has not come up on my phone. ![]() ![]()
