We have an impish tortoiseshell and white kitty who likes to bash her mama up to show she is top cat but ultimately gets battered and chastised by her long suffering mom. she then runs upstairs and launches herself at the wallpaper at the top of the stairs, what started as a tiny strip has turned into a work in progress, she then rolls over wanting her tummy tickled and looking all cute thinking "i'll be going into freddy krueger swiper mode just as soon as that oochie coochie baby talk starts. Ha ha ha they fall for it every time!"

I have one of those. A black/ginger/white tortie (what they call Calico in America). Apparently, true torties (dark brown with orange and yellow specks) are very gentle and feminine but the Calico types are boisterous and mine is very definitely that. She's 8 years old now and still acts like she's 8 months though she's a big bruiser.

Here she is killing a random tuft from my long haired cat. She's as cute as a button but at this stage is either sleeping or in full on attack mode.

My mum's got a semi-feral naughty tortie...it's like double trouble! Nobody is allowed to tickle her for longer than a few seconds before she turns and wants to take your hand off...but if you don't try to tickle her she'll happily sit on your lap and fall asleep. She's the loveliest thing apart from wanting to destroy the world *chuckle*

^^ I agree, my Tortie is 16 & still as clinically insane as she ever was.
Also, she rules over our ex-alleycat Male (who's twice her size & about 5 years younger) with a rod of iron.

Mine beats the dog up! She also hates tom cats, though she's soft as anything around other queens and humans.

martha is a sweetie pie, she looks like my old kitty, Foxy. Gizmo is my naughty tortie, and since starting this thread she has been excelling herself by having a punch up with her mama over a plastic carrier bag and has been climbing up my new dunhelm mill curtains causing holes that daylight can shine in thro. shes a furry feline home wrecking machine, good job she so cute with it!

I have 5 torties and there mad as hatters. The youngest holly who is a handrear is nearly 4 months as is the worse of the lot she teases all of the others all ready.

The thing about torties is they know they're gorgeous and will always get forgiven just because nobody can ever stay mad at them! It's certainly the case with my mum's *chuckle*

When I get my next kittycat (still not fully over losing my beloved Mrs Cat) I think I might look at getting a Calico, I just love the colours of them.

I personally don't find tortoise shell cats that appealing or pretty or, at least, no more so than other cat colourings. For me it's always been tabbies. I love tabbies and I find them the most beautiful cats to look at.

I suppose, like our view on people, we all have our own ideas about what we find attractive.

I forgot to say that my vet actually described my Millie as a tortoise shell tabby (I believe they are commonly referred to as 'torbies') but to me she's a very pretty tabby who may have some naughty, attention seeking tortie qualities .

Once saw a torbie in a graveyard in avebury, beautiful colouring, very unusuual. my kitty gizmo is more tortie than calico even tho she is tortie and white and obviously has gremlins gizmo face markings, hence the name. if i manage to figure out how to put a pic on here, will do. All quiet on the gizmo front at the mo, but i know come 10pm, the mischieviousness will begin,and her big mama twiggy will go along for the ride.If you cant beat a naughty tortie, join 'em!

my torties are daft and inteligent too. One can open up the kitchen waste bin and the baby one Holly ate some lettuce yesterday. She just took it off the plate and ran off with it

My tortie is absolutely crazy. She'll just sit there and suddenly run to the back garden to chase an imaginary leaf about. She's quite hyperactive, but also very loving (always on her terms).

I guess you could say that this one certainly has tortitude all right

My baby Ruby doo is the ULTIMATE Naughty Tortie. Pees on the couch at the slightest dirt in the tray and is the scattiest bat ever! Constantly scraps with her princess little sister Elphie (who winds her up no end!!)

I could not have gotten through the last four years without her though, she's my rock, my little girl and my whole heart, love her to death xx

My parents have a persian tortoiseshell who is a bit of a snob and does the stuck up look to perfection (we joke that she used to have an empire )and doesn't tend to do naughty things, they have another tortoiseshell and white (who is also part persian) who does have funny five minutes where she wanders around meowing and playing with the side of the rug and basically running around like a loon, we used to find pairs of socks hidden behind the desk on the landing that she had collected. They are both very pretty cats.

Omg...it's soo true about their nickname! We had a naughty Tortie and we loved her to pieces. She's gone to the Rainbow Bridge now but we remember her antics very clearly. Our tabby kitten is bringing back memories now and we have a cheeky bengal who's quite playful and a ginger who just wants a rest in his old age, lol.

My little princess is a very naughty tortie indeed - she can drive you up the wall sometimes with her antics! The funniest is when you've been playing with her, and she's worn out, but she still wants to play. You'll drag a piece of string for her to chase, and she'll start, but then she'll stop, stand there, stare at you, do a massive huff, and then throw herself onto her side on the floor with a big 'BRRRR'!

And for every single action she does, there's always a noise - whether it's jumping onto the windowsill or climbing the door She's got about 5 different ways of saying hello as well, depending on how you say hello to her! She's wonderful!

I have a 3 year old long haired tortie (without any white). I have had cats all my life and have never encountered any puss quite like my Fifi.
She is an out and out psycho. Crazy, evil, schizophrenic. All my neighbours are terrified of her. As is next door's dog. She tried to murder my cousin by swinging on her scarf and nearly strangling her

She jumps on your back, attacks your feet as you walk past her, grabs your legs with her paws and tries to pull you back if you walk away without feeding her.

My vets seem to draw straws for taking her appointments. A 'headstrong wee madam' was what the last vet called her as she tried to rip off his hand....

Don't get me wrong. She can be very affectionate. She appears on my knee for a purring session which usually lasts about 30 seconds. Then she bites me.

I've actually got a cat book in which it says that torties are known for their feisty natures. It says torties with some white are actually calmer. Dunno how true that is. 3 vets have now told me that in their experience, torties are all bonkers.

Anyway, I love her to bits. She may be a nutter but she's my wee nutter.

I agree that Fifi is a very pretty tortie and she sounds like a great character. The vets used to describe my Tabitha (who was a tabby but I think she too had some tortie colouring in her coat) as a feisty madam but she was a lovely very well behaved girl at home - just liked to have her own way.

When I was young I grew up with a tortie called 'Peg Peg' and in my mums words, "She was a cow!" She was just naughty. Her best thing was getting into our deep kitchen cupboard and sodding us when we tried to entice her out! All we could see was her eyes sparkling! Also I used to do a paperwork in the roads local to where I lived and she used to naughty run and follow me down the road, I then had to take her back. She also used to follow any of her family to our bus stops when we were going to school. Nothing more annoying then having to make sure you don't miss the bus because you are taking the cat back home! Oh and she also used to love sitting in the road or the drive, just looking cute! You had to get out the car, remove her just so you could get the car in the drive! My late Gran lived next door to us and in her words, after Peg Peg had sat in her drive "That bloody cat!!!"

My Bernard does that every day when I'm coming home (he's a black and white cat) and it's very very annoying. I'm worried one day he may get run over. He doesn't just sit in the drive (or in the middle of the road) he rolls around on his back

When I lived in my flat Tabitha (tabby) used to follow me when I went for a walk up the road to the shops. Whenever I wanted to go out, I had to make sure Tabitha was asleep and then had to sneak out very quietly. She still invariably woke up and followed me.

All my cats have loved the kitchen cupboards. Tabitha would go straight into any cupboard left open and it would take ages to entice her out. She did this right up to her old age. She often slept in my wardrobes too or in the drawers under my bed whenever they were pulled out. She was even known to sleep in the sink, all curled up. She had lots of sleeping spots.

Oh my Lily loves going under the bed too! You get a purring divan!!!

Ours is a little sod. She is 10 months old and worse than the other three cats put together. She steals my girlfriend's make up. She is a calico really (white, black and orange/brown).
