I don't want to disrupt the track of this DS thread but just wanted to mention that I've added a suggestion/idea to YouView forum to add a filter for film premieres if anyone wants to add any comments to it: https://community.youview.com/youvie...film-premieres

Hopefully, the more interest the idea gets the more chance there is of it being implemented.

Don't have YouView at home, just Freeview, but your suggestion (on that forum) is a good, sensible one for YouView.

The Imitation Game (2014), Sunday 31st July, 9pm-11.05pm, Channel 4

In switcheroo news, Buried seems to have moved from ITV to BBC, and the Twilight films from C4 to ITV, sort of explaining why they showed them all in one go again recently, but Twilight surfaces on ITV2 on Sunday the 31st July as well, possibly hinting at ITV2s film output for the next 5 years.

And I bet the show it cropped too, when surely any new acquisitions should be obtained in their OAR and in HD.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (2013), ITV1 7.45-10.45PM
And I bet the show it cropped too, when surely any new acquisitions should be obtained in their OAR and in HD.
ITV cropped the Hobbit films to 16:9 (despite showing them and others on the general "Movie Blockbusters" trailer in 2.35:1), with The Amazing Spider-Man again being a combination of open-matte (where available) and cropped. Some shots in IMAX were in 1.44:1, so they'll open up to 16:9 on TV, and some 2.35:1 non-FX shots open up to 16:9.

The trailer wasn't showing 2.35:1 footage though, they inserted those black bars themselves. You could tell with some of the shots that the top of characters heads were almost cut off as they had put fake 2.35:1 bars on a 1.78:1 image.

Recently got Netflix and noticed that if a film that has yet to air on terrestrial is dropped by Netflix, it's usually a sign that it's coming to TV soon, an example of this was Thor, another example is Super 8, which has taken too long to come on TV, airs in Channel 4 a week on Saturday.

On a side note, can safely discard any potential premieres for BBC1 for the foreseeable as it's becoming the Olympics channel.

Interesting about Netflix. BBC1 as you say can't see much happening on there for a while.
