Why did the avengers film pemaire before some of the other marvel films
Different distributors, Iron Man 3 aired before Thor and Captain America as well. Iron Man 2 also aired after Avengers but before BBC showed Iron Man 3. The fact C4 have finally got round to showing Thor and First Avenger could be a sign Dark World and Winter Soldier will be on BBC at Christmas, Dark World should be a definite cert either way.

No it hasn't. Have you gone into a cupboard, closed your eyes and clenched your fists, lately?

Seriously, I saw it for the first time when it was on TV, and despite it being Richard Curtis, I love time travel stuff, so really enjoyed it.

If you mean the 14th, it's being reported elsewhere that it's Captain America: The First Avenger at 8pm.

And about time

This is really bizarre. Different distributors. Different channels. So the films are aired out of sequence.

And when a film is shown before 9pm, they'll be censored. I still haven't seen Thor, Thor 2 or Iron Man 3, but I'm not watching censored versions. I'll catch up one day.

Iron Man2, Thor and Captain America were all distributed by Paramount whilst their follow ups (including Avengers) were released by Disney.

Both companies have first window deals with Sky for a year and then a second window deal with Netflix...difference being that the Disney films are only on Netflix for around 6 months in the second window whilst Paramount have a second window deal with Netflix that lasts 3 years! That's why for example, Super 8 (a 2011 release) only just premiered and Iron Man 2 hit terrestrial in 2015...3 years after it left Sky for Netflix. We saw iron Man 3 on terrestrial months after as it corresponded with the respective windows Disney has.

Same with Thor and Cap 1... as Thor 2 and Cap 2 were late 2013/early 2014 releases, they will likely hit terrestrial after their respective Netflix runs end by the end of the year

Funny you should bring this up Corabal because it looks like BBC1 are showing Thor: The Dark World on Bank Holiday Monday. Also Channel 4 have Transformers: Dark of the Moon at 8:00pm on Sunday 21st August.

Somebody posted it on Gallifrey Base.

Do you know if Warner have a similar arrangement? AFAIK they still have a few big films to premier on Freeview that I would have thought would be on by now

- Both Titans
- Both Sherlocks
- Hangover 2 and 3
- Get Smart
- The Dark Knight Rises
- Man of Steel (would have thought that might get a showing when BvS came out if anyone had the rights)

Edit - Sorry, quoted wrong post. This was in reference to the Netflix deal mentioned in post #2530.

ITV didn't air Dark Knight until Jan 1st 2015, they showed Hangover late as well, so expect them to show the remaining films of those franchises at some point.

I'm intrigued as to someone knew BBC would be showing it over a week ago, they must be an insider, schedules are never out that early except Xmas.

There was an ad for it on BBC1 about a week ago which I presume has played again since though it wasn't stating a date. Just that it was coming soon.

Nice to see them make the effort if that's the case. I hope this means Winter Soldier at Xmas too, preferably not cut.

Just reading up on it, Winter Soldier was released earlier than I thought it was, so it seems likely it will be on BBC at Xmas

I think Frank is another of the former Netflix films. Last Vegas is also premiering this Saturday on Channel 4.

If Frozen premieres this Christmas it will be Christmas Day afternoon surely, isn't that time slot a bit late too for an animated kids film too?
