So ITV are being their usual dickish selves and airing The Lion King against Frozen.

Something else for Xmas Eve

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014) 6-9pm, ITV
Why is that a problem? What do you think they should do?

Why is ITV showing a Disney film against Frozen being 'dickish'?

They've had a Disney contract going back nearly 10 years. They used to have Universal and premiered Back To The Future, E.T. and Jurassic Park. Then ITV got that one and now Channel 4 have it. Paramount and 20th Century Fox used to be BBC and are Channel 4 now. Paramount was ITV for awhile too.

They jump all over the place.
I'm surprised the Beeb spend proper money on movies. Maybe it's not that expensive anymore since these aren't first run showings.

If someone could do a post covering all the different film rights that would be amazing.

Channels spend big money on movies. Some can still get a good rating for a network showing and they do good repeat business. BBC have 2 Disney and Dreamworks these go back years. As do mine of ITV and Channel 4's contracts.

FILM: Frozen
BBC 1 North
Sunday 25th December 2016
15:10 to 16:40

Three skiers stranded on a chairlift are forced to make life-or-death choices which prove more perilous than staying put and freezing to death.
(2010, 15, 3 Star)

Starring: Emma Bell, Shawn Ash, Kevin Zegers, Ed Ackerman, Rileah Vanderbilt, Kane Hodder

The current synopsis of Frozen on Digiguide, this would be an interesting airing.

I like both, I also like the irony of Iceman from the X-Men films being in it and freezing to death.

Paddington is a great film. Glad it's on TV sooner than expected. Would have done better ratings wise over Christmas though.

Is The Babadook on Film 4 Saturday 26th at 11.20pm a premiere? It gets 4 stars in my TV guide.

No, it was shown on Monday evening.

As it happens, I'll be watching either that or From Hell tonight. Haven't decided which one yet.

I wonder if Frozen would work at around 4pm? Would kickstart the main evening on the day.
No, family films start at 3.10pm on BBC1 on Xmas Day. Always have. Why change it? After that, it's all the other junk with real people they usually show that gets family audiences.

The Lone Ranger (2013) also Sunday the 11th, BBC2 at 8.00pm-10.20pm
Missed that in the cinema. Saw the last 20 mins on Sky Movies. No spoilers, obviously, but for a finale to a film it was incredibly poor.

Sunday 1st January 2017

The Dark Knight Rises (2012), 3.23pm-7.37pm. ITV5+1

Why? It's on C4. Ad.revenue comes BEFORE Xmas. That's all that matters.

More viewers over Christmas = more revenue for the channels and advertisers.

Wrong. All the stuff you're buying for Xmas is advertised BEFORE Xmas. On Xmas Day, all you get is the DFS Sale. No-one's buying anything after they've bankrupted themselves.

That's why the commercial broadcasters don't have to try on the day itself.

It is free but not on the EPG, you can only access it through a secret menu.
