I'm pretty sure ITV or any terrestrial channels film deals last for quite a few years, and if they already have a deal in place, a new deal with a new broadcaster can't affect it until it has run it's course. So Universal films might not disappear from ITV for some time, if at all. Remember, Sky have bought the pay-TV rights, I imagine ITV have a separate deal for the FTA rights and both deals do not affect each other. By the time the Universal deal expires with ITV they will either have sorted a new deal with Universal or brokered a new deal with another movie studio.

A) I think the Sky deal is Pay-TV is only
B) Universal haven't released anything good in the last few years anyway (except Ted (but my understanding is that Universal don't have TV rights for that) and my personal guilty pleasure, The Fast & Furious Franchise)

I certainly hope that the FTA rights continue as although this is my view there have been a few fairly good Universal movies over the last couple of years. I really liked the Wolfman, coming soon to film4, and even Kick Ass made me chuckle here and there.

In regards to the films popping up on channel 4 as premieres, you are right some will have been on film 4 first. I know this because I sat down to watch one a few months back and thought I was going nuts becasuse I was sure we had seen it already then checked and we had on film 4.

But hey the Crazies isn't a bad film so what the heck

Correct !!! How did you guess?

The Expendables (2010) has been confirmed though for Sunday 9th December at 9pm. Also a repeat screening is scheduled for Wednesday 12th December at 10pm.

Not related to premieres, but interestingly I've noticed they are showing a few titles normally seen elsewhere. For example, Jack Frost (ITV) on Sunday 2nd December, Mr & Mrs Smith (Channel 4/E4/Film4) on Monday 10th December and Constantine (ITV) on Thursday 13th December.

Sunday 9 December

22:15 The Invention of Lying (ITV1)
It's not been on before. Might actually watch it, even if I have had enough of Ricky Gervais.

And Digiguide lists it as Sat 8th Dec.

Here's another one for the list...

Predators (2010) airs Saturday 8th December at 9pm on Channel 4
God, that's a terrible film. Am I the only one who preferred Predator 2 to all of the other Predator-only films?

Predator 2 really worked as a movie and answered a lot of questions left by the first film I must agree.

But I'd like to see the new film as I think it may be okay (I'm one of the people who like Predator V Alien) and if it's not at least it's new film.

Am I the only person in the universe that would rather watch "Zack and Miri" than "The Expendables"?

"Zack & Miri Make A Porno" is actually very funny and one of Kevin Smith's more popular films. I'm surprised Channel 5 keep pulling it, oh, that's right, they don't have that tawdry image any more, so anything involving sex is a no-no.

Probably not. They are very different titles. I think The Expendables will get higher ratings though so I can see why that one has a plum slot in the run up to Xmas.

Great movie... A HUGE flop at the Box Office. Universal haven't had a huge hit since... Well forever really. The last huge box office triumphant they had must have been Peter Jackson's version of King Kong in 2005!

ITV should be banned from broadcasting movies full stop. They cut them to pieces, stick the bloody news in the middle of it, and they never show them in the right ratio!
