I was expecting it to hit the BBC, since Icon are it's UK distributors...

Ah, Carl's back to troll again. Film 4 has films, not shows. I'm not sure if you can get that channel in your neck of the woods, though.

Yeah I knew they would be showing all the HP films each week, but I wonder if it will end with the premiere of Deathly Hallows- Part one??

I don't think there's a legal reason why they won't show anything 18 rated until 10PM, otherwise Sky wouldn't have given Game of Thrones the 9PM Monday slot. They're just covering themselves...

I don't watch GoT, but TV shows aren't broadcast with certificates in mind. Doctor Who's broadcast at 6pm uncut when it's later turned up on a 12-rated DVD, for example.

Game of Thrones is a hard 18, and Sky certainly know that, in fact they probably knew that before they started broadcasting it. I'm amazed they've been able to keep in that slot...

Sky One also aired Strike Back in a 9pm slot, another ‘18’ rated TV programme. Although they also got in trouble with Ofcom for doing so, mainly because the adult content immediately followed the family entertainment of The Simpsons. So on one week in particular, no less than 5 minutes after The Simpsons had finished there was full frontal female nudity.

I would've thought satellite could get away with more than terrestrial, but on the GoT front, fans of that will know what to expect so you're not going to get random "Mr Angry"s writing in to complain about the content.

Which I guess is why people complained about Strike Back, one minute the family were watching The Simpsons and then before they knew it there was a naked women on screen, boobs, bush and all!

No. Wrong. I am as allowed to voice my opinion as anyone else

Which, of course, is to completely miss the point I was making.

There are other channels that do show "shows" (or programmes or films or whatever the hell else you want to call them )) not in HD though. Which was my point. If a show, or a film (or whatever) is not available in HD then I will still watch it if I like it.

Case in point. "Covert Affairs" is on Really. We don't have ReallyHD yet but I like the show so I still watch it.

I am not a "HD snob". If you would like to comment on that then please do so. Otherwise, please refrain from personal comments.

Which isn't what you were doing. You just came on to take a snipe at me. I've known you too long here, and on uk.media.tv.misc and blocked your invites on Twitter and Facebook.

Then viewers should (a) instruct themselves in what the watershed is, and (b) listen to the warning given before the start of Strike Back.

Darn right.

You voice a view sometimes and people take your head off or suggest you work for SKY ruddy TV! HULK MAD! HULK SMASH! HULK BASH! oooo cookies

Anyway back to normal why can't everyone just take a step back and lets be civil okay folks.

I though the idea was too have a little fun and keep up to speed with what's going on TV wise etc. not boil each other in baby oil.

The ad that was on last night seemed to show all of the action cropped. Have ITV broadcast any of the HP films in their OAR? I highly doubt they'd have got new prints for this new run though, they're just getting their money's worth out of the rights they already have. It will take a new movie deal for ITV to show the majority of their films in OAR, practically all their Warner and Universal films are cropped, but are in HD so who cropped them? ITV or the studio?

Recently Warner Bros. films have been OAR including the last HP which premièred Christmas '11, if memory serves me correctly.

I can't remember when it was, but it was only the 6th film which they've shown OAR.

And ITV also show Universal films like Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead in 16:9. They're open-matter so not as bad as a cropped image, but ITV also show partially censored versions as well, primarily for the c-word.

What about the weird thing in ITV HD films that I've seen a couple of times where a small chunk of either the left or right hand disappears to be replaced by black, for a scene or two and then back to the full 16:9 frame. I first noticed it on Troy, and then on the James Bond film repeats on a Saturday.

They do this for those watching in 4:3 (still) so they won't miss any credits or text that appears on screen or if on a wide shot where people are at opposite ends of the screen and one would be cut off otherwise.

Only ITV and Channel 5 seem to do this, the BBC and Channel 4 don't.

It can't be a fact if it's wrong. Show me a definition of troll that includes "posts personal opinions on forums". Gee. By that definition every single member on here is one.

Anyway, you've disrupted this thread enough with your personal dislike of me. Please feel free to add me to your 'ignore' list so we can get back to the subject of the thread.
