Sometimes the tv mags get it wrong, where a premiere is put against it say, on Channel 5, or Channel 4, when it's already been screened on either 5USA or Film4 etc... In this case though I think you are right, so...
The standard practice in the listing mags is to call it a premiere if it hasn't previously aired on Channels 1-5, i.e. on a (traditional) terrestrial channel. It seems a bit outdated now with the advent of Freeview, as does the very term 'terrestrial' in this sense, now that we have digital terrestrial channels other than 1-5.

Here's an up to date list of movie premieres (up to & Incl. Fri. 16th). Note - True Entertainment launched on Freeview this week (ch. 61) - they are showing a mixture of shows and films, but no details of "premieres" on this channel as yet.

TUESDAY 6TH:-

THE BANG BANG CLUB (2010), Movie Mix, 9.00-11.10pm.

SUNDAY 11TH:-

LEAP YEAR (2009), Channel 4, 4.45-6.40pm.

OPEN SEASON 2 (2008), Channel 5, 5.30-6.55pm.

MONDAY 12TH:-

SIDE BY SIDE (2012), Film4, 10.50pm-12.45am.

Sorry I haven't been around with my usual updates, they've been sparse recently.

As we discussed a bit earlier on, I think Channel 4 have done a deal with Relativity Media to get films they co-financed, such as Scott Pilgrim, Salt, Get Him to the Greek, The Social Network, and I think a couple of others.

I appreciate the terrestrial heads-up for this and other films because Sky doesn't have Film4 HD yet.

Apologies if it's been asked before but has Sherlock Holmes - the Downey, Jr version - been on yet?

Not yet. I wonder why it's taking so long.

With their expertise, they'll probably premiere The Dark Knight Rises before The Dark Knight

WB 2009 films with the exception of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince has yet to premiere on television and also their 2010 films. Paramounts 2010 films haven't received terrestrial debuts either.

Would it not make sense to première Grindhouse or Planet Terror before premièring it's spin-off film Machete?

Machete was distributed by Fox I believe whereas Grindhouse was Dimension Films which I think is distributed along with other Weinstein Company films by Entertainment Films.

Grindhouse is Dimension/Weinstein and therefore EFD. But Machete was Sony Pictures in the UK.

Still a stupid idea though...

Movie Mix have a reasonable selection on - that upcoming Saints & Soldiers/Airborne movie I haven't seen, but the original Saints & Soldiers from 2003 is worth a look.

1941 - years since I've seen that, was tempted to record & watch it again.

FYI (& others who are interested) Machete isn't too bad a film, but the 2 standouts for me are The Imposter & Red Hill - the former is very good, the latter most unusual but works well.

May give them a go depending on whether I can get through the several dozen shows I've still got to catch up with on my PVR. These things are handy but you don't have get behind if you're not careful.

And 1941 was a joy and I don't think they edited it too much either, which was surprise more power to Movie Mix.

Know the feeling! Just finished a (6 month) run of 70 + (!!) Come Dine With Me progs. dating back to late 2011!

Started recording Kojak (though seen most, if not all) so mustn't leave it so long!

Got about 4/5 films to get through - couple of b/w on BBC2 recently, House Of Flying Daggers (Film4 recently), Secret Window (Movie Mix - with Johnny Depp).
