At least, thankfully, the studio didn't insist on slicing and dicing it down to a 12 in the UK, in that case.

BATTLE: LOS ANGELES (2011), Channel 4, wasn't half bad.

Sci Fi with aliens and things going bang what more could I ask for.

Repeat or not Drive Angry is a fairly reasonable film. Well I liked it. I like Nick Cage in most films to be fair with one or two turkey's such as the Wicker Man.

Yep, I enjoyed that, apart from a 10-15 min bit in the middle where everything slowed right down.

And while Battle LA was in DD5.1, Paul wasn't. Why are Universal only supplying films in Dolby Surround? And it was a terrible film anyway. It's a 5-min sketch stretched out over 2hrs.

I think it's not Universal, I think the new deal is with Relativity Media (hence Skyline and Sony's The Social Network and Salt premièring on C4 instead of C5). It just happens that Relativity have filled the Studiocanal sized void in Universal's financing arrangements...

Although that doesn't explain why Couples Retreat premiered on ITV a few months ago

Is it bad that I have never heard of any of them?

Cannot wait until Christmas I predict Toy Story 3 will get a showing on BBC One since it has been 3 years.

The All About Steve movie stars Sandra Bullock - I've seen it and it's moderately amusing - a passable time filler.

Toy Story 3 - great film.

Watching the TOTP reruns on BBC4 recently - hard to believe Father Abraham's Smurfs would still be around 35 years later!

It's possible although that only came out 2 years ago and normally it's 3 years.

I wouldn't hold your breath. Looking on Amazon, it's released through Sony, and C5 have still to show 2009's 2012. It's quite embarrassing for them that they couldn't even get to show that at the time it was meant to happen. Talk about missing the boat!

If ITV had it then it would be shown on 21st December 2012.

They also have most of Adam Sandler's movie so that why they are never shown on TV. Why buy the rights if you are not going to use them.

ITV were like that with Batman though for some reason.

Anyone know if "Iron Man 2" (2010) is due anytime soon? Was going to rent it from LoveFilm, which I may do anyway, but just thought I'd ask

It has been 3 years so Channel 4 should show it soon but might save it for Christmas.

I'm gonna stick my neck out and say it's not happening.

Whilst Paramount did own the rights to Iron Man 2, they've just been acquired by Disney. Who want all of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (except for The Incredible Hulk, which they appear to be disowning). This might put a spanner in the works, and result in it airing on the BBC, or Channel 5 (or maybe even ITV)....

Though it aired in the US for the first time on Tuesday.

So, LoveFilm it is then

Have to say that I think LF is brilliant. £60 upfront per year for an unlimited number of (one-at-a-time) films.

And accessible via the internet where they're also available £60/year cheaper
TV Time Mike

Lovefilm in either format can be very handy.

As the TV companies have such complex deals what with pay TV and freeview rights it can take years for a 'new' film to get on the box.

It does make sense as after all the production and distribution companies need to make a reasonable return on their often sizable investment.

Only hope we get a few half way watchable films on over Christmas and not a 101 repeats of the previous repeats as we often get.

Great service - been a member for years and it's worth every penny. Seen hundreds of films that have never been shown/not shown in years on tv, including lots of foreign films, old b/w British & American, oddities and of course blockbusters...
