how many years is it until films are premiered on terrestrial tv?
Generally anything from 2 years to 4 years, depending on the studio who made it.

Generally 6 months from cinema release to Blu Ray/DVD, Sky Box Office etc, usually another 6 months later for Sky Movies. Then another year from then on.

I would say on average about 2 and half to 3 years from cinema release.

According to the Daily Mirror today Toy Story 3 will premiere on Christmas Day on BBC1. I thought the BBC did not have the rights to Pixar films at the moment.

They share Disney premiere rights with ITV.

Looks like the BBC aren't showing Tron Legacy at Christmas which is surprising unless someone else is going to show it. Cars 2 premiering this year is also a surprise although its not very good so I imagine it'll air Christmas Eve or New Years Day,

They're also showing Little Fockers, that was released by Paramount but Dreamworks are associated with it.

I imagine it'll air next year but The Muppets would have been a great film to have at Christmas.

Just had a look at Channel 4's press release, nothing really noticeable there, just full of repeats! Any idea when Iron Man 2 will premiere?

As I discussed a few weeks ago there are added complications, as the rights to Iron Man 2 have now transferred to Disney. So we don't know who gets them, is it Disney (therefore ITV or BBC) or Paramount (Channel 4) or will they be sold separately?

The only films of note were the C4 premiere of A Field in England (already shown on Film4) and Never Let Me Go, which I can't remember being shown before, but probably has...

Interesting that this has been sidelined for BBC2. I wonder if BBC2 will also show BBC Films' "Quartet" over Christmas.

Don't think Quartet will be this year, it only came out in January didn't it? There's still films from 2011 that haven't been shown yet, Jane Eyre, which is definitely being shown this Christmas, My Week With Marilyn and We Need To Talk About Kevin.

Is there a reason none of the channels have shown any of the Hangover movies yet?

It's an ITV premiere, so it probably won't ever happen. But it has been shown on RTL in Germany and RTE in Ireland, so assuming they're on a similar deal there's nothing stopping them...
