Apart from Dark Knight, what's the longest awaited premiere that still hasn't been on terrestrial tv yet?

How long's a piece of string? The Klansman (starring Lee Marvin and Richard Burton) was supposed to air on ITV many years ago (about 15-20 years) and was pulled at the last minute. Made in 1974, it's never (to my knowledge) been shown on terrestrial tv.

I have rented hundreds of films from Lovefilm over the last 3 years, and I can think of plenty of old b/w movies that again to the best of my knowledge have never been show on tv - e.g. The Man Who Was Sherlock Holmes - a 1937 German (English subtitled) film, many more as old if not older than that. Quite a few other foreign ones I've seen too.

If you go back in this thread other posters have given other examples too.

Santa with Muscles, Mon 2nd Dec, 2.45pm - More Than Movies

I wonder if this can count, it's such a low rated film on IMDB that I think it should be for fun.

It's about time Statham went down the road of Arnie and The Rock and did a family comedy - Santa With Muscles sounds like the perfect vehicle

Howard the Duck definitely did years ago, I remember watching it on BBC. I don't know if it's been shown since though. It wasn't that bad...

I wonder if the BBC will be showing it all widescreen, cropped/IMAX or the OAR widescreen/IMAX-switching version on the blu-ray?

Generally 6 months from cinema release to Blu Ray/DVD, Sky Box Office etc, usually another 6 months later for Sky Movies. Then another year from then on.
It's more like 3 months from cinema to Blu-ray/DVD/Sky BO these days.

Yep Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows- Part 1 AND Part 2 will be premiering on ITV soon!! The advert had very clear clips of Deathly Hallows and the voiceover said "From the beginning to the end" or something like that!

Squeeeeeee
I shouldn't get too excited. At least the first 5 are all cropped to 16:9

2-4? *cough*DarkKnight*cough*
Well, I did say "Generally"

BBC Two - Saturday 14th 8pm. The first film is being shown on the same day at 5.30pm.
That would've been a great BBC1 Boxing Day film, even if it isn't as good as the original. I guess it'll air on BBC1 at some point.

I wonder if the BBC will be showing it all widescreen, cropped/IMAX or the OAR widescreen/IMAX-switching version on the blu-ray?
I'd expect they will show it in 2.35:1 throughout. They've only invite complaint emails from people who don't understand if the ratio switched. I haven't seen the switching version. I should give it a go.

So a few things worth a look at.

Hope we also get some Black and White Classics. Oh for Stan and Ollie on BBC2.

Man this screen really hurts my eyes compared to the old layout.

I think the BBC premiere dates are messed up! No premiere on Christmas Eve, but two on Boxing Day?! PoTC was a $1billion grossing film and they've shoved it on 29/12! And Megamind shouldn't really be on 27/12, Gnomeo and Juliet should be instead IMO...

Correct

Christmas Eve - 4.15pm-6.15pm, BBC2, (1940) - Too bad it's rubbish, IMO anyway
