I seem to remember we go by first runs on Freeview here for terrestrial premieres, but just a note that Ice Age: the Meltdown, shown next Saturday at 17:20 on ITV, is the first showing of that film on one of the main five channels (having previously been shown on Sky, Boomerang, Film4 and ITV2 in that order).

Not the case. It premiered on ITV1 in January 2009.

Thank you for the clarification. I hadn't realised that was the same film as Ice Age 2. Apologies.

Ah, so the Fast and Furious films will now premiere on C4! Maybe we'll get them on time, compared to ITV who would probably show them 5 years too late

ITV's deal with Universal must be over now and Channel 4 have taken over. I think Channel 4 may have A deal with Sony as well since they showed Bad Teacher last Sunday,

I know The Dark Knight gets mentioned quite a few times on here but does anyone actually know why recent big Warner films aren't showing?

Off the top of my head I can think of TDK, Sherlock Holmes, Speed Racer, Get Smart all failing to show on terrestrial from the last few years. Only Harry Potter seems to have made it through unscathed.

Apologies if this has been asked and answered already - There are 50 pages and seemed easier just to ask.

ITV seem to have recently lost the Universal contract to Channel 4. Perhaps ITV's rights for Warner Bros. films have expired and once a certain date comes they won't be showing any more WB films and another channel will start. But if this is the case, who's got them?

And who in TV would be stupid enough to think, "Hey, we've got the rights to The Dark Knight, but how about this - let's not show it!"

Then again, broadcasters think morons shouting over end credits is acceptable, so who knows how their minds work.

Cheers. Does seem a little strange.

Think Inception can be added to my list too. Unless I missed that one showing.

I'm wondering whether the BBC might have a deal with Warner Bros. because they have shown Blade Runner, Blood Diamond, Amadeus (Director's Cut) and Happy Feet, but surely they'd have premièred something over Christmas? Maybe they only have a few WB films...

The second run rights to WB films seem to be split between ITV, BBC and Channel 5. Channel 5 have shown Happy Feet, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and the Polar Express, the BBC did premiere Superman Returns, Poseidon and The Ant Bully while Channel 5 premiered 300, 10,000 BC and TMNT, I'm guessing ITV only has Harry Potter in the same way they own Bond,
