I haven't really liked any of the Craig-led Bond films, that I can remember. They seem to have lost the humour of the previous ones are are far too serious. And Skyfall was the worst of the lot. Nothing really happened except a few set pieces.
I may try and find them on TV at some point to see if I'm remembering wrongly ![]() |

WHAT THE HELL
skyfall ain't gonna be on ITV THIS YEAR!!!!! far too soon where you getting THAT from??? And all of ITV's previous Bond screenings have been within 2 years of broadcast, since around part-way through the Brosnan Bonds (possibly all of them) due to a deal they struck. That said, the deal kept them off Sky, and that clearly changed with Skyfall. Quote:
and who cares how long it is Because less is more in a lot of cases. Django Unchained was a great example where you could cut the first 2hrs down by at least 20 mins, then when it comes to the last 45 mins of the film, just skip straight to the last 10 mins. No need for the Tarantino scene at all.GEEEEEEEEEEZ Quote:
Anybody that thinks Skyfall is worse than Quantum of Solace is just wrong. I don't care, you're just wrong...
And The Wolf of Wall Street just never knows when to stop! |

It is worse. It's also interminably long, which makes it worse. At least QoS wrapped things up without dragging on too long. Far too many 2hr+ films could be cut down by a good 40 mins.

It isn't worse, it actually has a discernible plot line that makes complete sense. And I don't think there's much that could be taken out of Skyfall without the film suffering as a result, certainly not 40 minutes worth.

To put it into context Goldeneye when shown is 2hrs45mins so how would ITV manage to schedule an ever longer film at Christmas for example?.

They could cut out some ads for starters! Films are subject to longer running times on tv these days due to the increased number of ads and/or breaks. According to my dvd copy Goldeneye is 2 hours 4 mins. When I got my first VCR one of the first films I recorded from tv was the premiere of Star Wars, which was on ITV on a Sunday evening from 7.45-10.00pm and, with ads removed, ran for 1 hour 54 mins.

Skyfall was announced as airing on ITV this year when they announced their deal to drag all the Bond films back to ITV again.
Anyway, let's go to the Hop, (2011), Easter Sunday (20th April), 6.10pm-8.00pm - Channel 4 The Stone Roses: Made of Stone (2013) Saturday 19th April, 10.50pm-12.50am - Channel 4 This is a documentary but given it's funded by Film4 and directed by Shane Meadows i'm guessing it's also a film in same vein as Shine a Light. Punisher: War Zone (2008), Easter Sunday, 10.50pm-12.55am, Channel 5 This is open to correction, I don't recall it airing on Terrestrial yet. |

Is the Punisher sequel substantially shorter then than the 2004 original? , i recall the 1st airing in a 2hrs25min slot at christmas as well & just assumed the rehash was around the 120 minute mark as well.

quantum of solace was a misstep but casino royale was the shot in the arm the series needed. It seems to me like they have been trying to avoid making a traditional bond movie for a while now. they've got bogged down with personal vendetta plots

I don't think his tenure has been any worse than Craig's. A cracking first film for both and then very lame efforts afterwards.

Jesus ok... We get it... You didn't like Skyfall... But some of us do, quite a lot of us actually... Tough crap.
And no critics liked Skyfall, they all pretended to because it was the 50th anniversary film. Quote:
Interesting point, maybe. I did wonder why it was on so late.

So which intelligent person at Channel 4 scheduled two film premieres at the same time?
