Anyone know what the current state of play is regarding more recent WB movies?

We're still waiting on some really big titles like The Dark Knight, Sherlock Holmes and Inception to get a terrestrial premiere. Much longer and they'll start talking about a Dark Knight re-make

With the exception of the Harry Potter film which are on a different deal, and Slumdog Millionaire, Terminator: Salvation, Watchmen and The Invention of Lying (which were all distributed by somebody else in the UK), I don't think we've had any post-2007 Warner Bros. premières, which would mean either ITV are very slow, or their deal has expired...

I didn't realise that it was so extensive. I thought it was just a few of the big-hitters being held back.

Oh well, if it's not just ITV being silly (as if!), fingers crossed that someone else will sign on the dotted line at some point.

Thanks for the info!

I wasn't 100% sure on Invictus and Yes Man, I think they may have been shown, but that still puts the last première as being from 2008/9

Was 21 Jump Street shown in 2.35:1 on C5?

So will we ever get any more Warner Brother films again on terrestrial TV. Films like Sherlock or the Hangover have not been shown. So will the films such as new year of Jack and the Giant Slayer be shown.

Hopefully never, Jack and the Giant Slayer is the most boring piece of crap imaginable, they're doing you a favour by not subjecting you to it...

Indeed. And yes, Shrek Forever After, like you say, a premiere.

Since TV stations like to time premieres to air with their sequels, I thought we would've seen 2011's Planet of the Apes remake air in time for the new film.

Not a clue, I own it on blu-ray, I have no intention of watching it with adverts...

Will the 3rd Transformers movie be on in 2 weeks time as they have shown the 1st this weekend and the 2nd next weekend?

That could make sense seeing as that would be Age of Extinction's opening weekend (it opens this forthcoming Saturday, which makes the following weekend it's opening weekend - it has to be open on the Friday to qualify as an opening weekend)..

However, it isn't scheduled for the Saturday and the Sunday schedule is embargoed until tomorrow, but somebody with digiguide may be able to tell you...

It's a real con, that. They obviously don't think it can manage No.1 on its own, so do this to get almost two full weekends out of it, to make a sure-fire No.1.

(Bad) Neighbo(u)rs also did that. I wonder if this is the start of a trend.

Just checked. They've got a double bill of The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises, from 9pm.

(Just kidding)

At the moment, on C4, Sat July 12th just says TBA for 9-11.15pm, which is too short a slot. Sun already lists Titanic from 7pm.

I hate these nine day opening because the UK box office always reports any figures as part of the three day opening, this is also true when Dreamworks does weekend previews for their films, How to Train Your Dragon 2 has had previews on Father's Day, last Saturday and Sunday and this weekend and it officially doesn't get released in England and Wales until the 11th, it's already been released in Scotland and Ireland so those figures will appear in the chart but I think they need to do what they do in most countries and report just the three day opening and any takings before that are reported as part of the total.

The credits for The Armstrong Lie, were weird, they were squeezed throughout except for the logos at the end. I must say it was the first time in ages I've been annoyed at a credit squeeze...

Rise of the Planet of the Apes should do well although Channel 4 could have shown it a week earlier since Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is out next Thursday, bit odd that Hugo is being shown in summer, seems more of a Christmassy film.

I don't think Hugo fits any particular season given it's plot, personally.
