I was watching Avengers on Netflix and I was wondering if it has been shown on terrestrial tv yet? I know it's been shown on Sky and is now available on Netflix but can't remember if its been shown on terrestrial tv or is another Dark Knight?

They haven't shown Iron Man 2, Thor or Captain America yet, so it would make no sense to show it yet...

But it's another film where the rights are muddled, as far as I know Disney owns all theatrical and home media rights, but Paramount kept premium cable rights for their EPIX network. I don't know if the deal allowed Paramount to keep any more rights, but they definitely have US premium cable...

They haven't shown Iron Man 2
I swear that has been on C4/FILM4 already right?

Nope, they just repeat the first one fairly frequently...

Nope Iron Man 2 has been on C4/Film4 I bet my life on it because I swear I saw it on the schedules a year back... Someone else confirm this please?

EDIT: Or it may have been E4... Hmm... But I have been it played on one of the non premium channels.

I'm fairly certain it hasn't, otherwise why wouldn't they repeat it alongside the copious repeats of the first film and The Incredible Hulk, makes no sense. We've had this discussion with another poster, who's convinced it was broadcast, so perhaps it was but it seems odd they would play it once and then never again...

But come to think of it, we haven't seen many (if any) Paramount premières on C4 of late, perhaps that contract ended...

I thought that Iron Man 2 had already been on terrestrial tv but I could be wrong!

I know that Iron Man 2 along with Captain America and Avengers are on Netflix which seems to show that Netflix that they must be getting the rights to Marvel films before they are showed on terrestrial tv but after Sky have shown them!

I guess this might delay terrestrial premieres of Marvel films though

I have spoken to BBC Complaints weeks ago to show the broadcast rights to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) films for Xmas on BBC2 (including ABC's Marvel Studios: Assembling the Universe) and I will send the read through soon.

Whilst they may have the rights to the Marvel films through their non-exclusive Disney contract, which is now shared with ITV, Assembling the Universe, will be distributed by ABC Studios, and will likely be a separate deal. (Although, it should be included on the forthcoming Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. blu-ray release.)

So as Netflix is showing Skyfall after Sky Movies will this result in a extra delay before it's shown on terrestrial tv?

So maybe we won't see Skyfall on terrestrial tv Untill 2016 at the earliest!

Sky's exclusive rights to Skyfall ended in August so it means Netflix who have the streaming rights to MGM films can stream it and ITV can in theory show Skyfall anytime but I imagine it won't air until November or December.
