Thanks for the update Dancc - always good to hear from you esp. when it's news about Channel 5. Thanks also to Corabal again for that mega list (on the previous page) - I'll try and update here in the next couple of days!

Its a bit strange that Channel 5 have the rights to Lionsgate films except for The Hunger Games which was shown on Channel 4.

It'll be interesting who will show The Hobbit on TV as MGM has TV rights, my guess would be either Channel 4 or 5

I think Channel 5 will show The Hobbit franchise next year while BBC1 to premiere The Lord of the Rings trilogy in Easter 2015?

Will you please stop trolling? Or at least come up with something funny?

OK so schedules are being kinder now with Christmas approaching, so more idea of what films are in channels in coming weeks, wish it was like this all year round, if Sky can plan ahead why can't terrestrial channels, secondly if i'm not sure if a film is a premiere, it's marked with NS, if a foreign language film, i'll mark the country of origin next to the year like i've done previously, i'll also mark documentaries, anyway...

War Horse is on until 10.15pm

Christmas Premieres confirmed here

http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/mediapacks/xmas14

Avengers Assemble; Pussy in Boots; Madagascar 3; The Muppets; The Pirates! Adventures with Scientists; John Carter; Salmon Fishing In The Yemen; Quartet; and Albert Nobbs.

No Tintin? and no Pixar movie - which must be the first time in years this has happened.......maybe it's because they got Cars 2 last Christmas free with Toy Story 3.

I was hoping for Arthur Christmas. But then again once it premieres it will be on every year.

Nice to see Avengers Assemble on the way, but it's a bit of a shame terrestrial viewers won't have had the chance to catch Iron Man 2, Thor or Captain America: The First Avenger beforehand.

One would have to assume Paramount took the Marvel rights up to The Avengers, where Disney took over, and Channel 4 let their Paramount deal lapse, which would explain why there hasn't been a Paramount première in a while...

Although the wording the BBC used is "film premières include", which kind of implies there will be others. Maybe they'll be showing all of the Marvel films but chose not to list them?

Those premieres might not run until New Year's Day, which means Tintin could premiere that day. Seems strange BBC aren't showing it.

Will also be interesting to see whether ITV bother or not this year. They didn't really offer any movie premiere in 2011, ran with Tangled in 2012 and then Harry Potter last year. Could they be offering Skyfall on Boxing Day?

Glenn Close stars as a woman who disguises herself as a man in 19th century Ireland in order to make it in a mans world and work as a butler in a posh Dublin hotel to save money and realise her dreams of opening a tobacco shop. It's based on a true story.

Avengers Assemble is bound to be cut on the BBC. Anything 12 certificate, regardless of pre or post watershed, that's of interest to children is usually cut.

Tintin was distributed by Paramount in the UK, the BBC have never had Paramount films (except Indiana Jones, but I believe the rights to those were sold separately by Lucasfilm), so it's not strange at all...

(EDIT: When Universal dropped out, so did Dreamworks apparently.)

I believe one of the TV guides has confirmed ITV will be showing Skyfall at some point this Christmas, probably in the run up to get more ad money...
