The purpose of this thread has been achieved! I feel so empty now.

I believe ITV showing The Dark Knight is a sign of the impending biblical apocalypse...

It's been 5 years since I watched The Dark Knight. Loved it the first and second times around so would like to see what I think of it now. Especially as I thought TDKR was barely above average. Guess this means you'll have to debate when that movie debuts now (2018 at a guess)

BBC will show Avengers 3 Parts 1 and 2 long before ITV show The Dark Knight Rises

The Dark Knight Scheduled!

It's about bloody time! And I was wondering when Men In Black 3 would be on. I'll watch that after The Apprentice final on December 21st.

Well Channel 4 showed the first two Iron Man movies, must be part of their Paramount deal. But where are Thor and Captain America? Another awkward film series is The Chronicles Of Narnia. The first two are Buena Vista but rh e third was made by Fox. So the BBC showed the first two and Channel 4 will have the last one.

Different distribution companies, from Avengers onwards, Disney distributed the films, meaning BBC get Avengers onwards.

Worth noting that the Avengers will play with a Paramount logo on it (as will Iron Man 3), but that's because Disney brought the rights off Paramount, and Paramount got a clause in the deal saying that they had to use the Paramount logo instead of Disney's logo...

Why did Channel 4 get rid off there Paramount deal ? I thought it gave them a steady stream of good premieres and a big back catalogue

I don't think they did. Disney bought Marvel so from Avengers Assemble onwards any sequels come under the Disney umbrella.

Considering Iron Man 2 is still on Netflix some two years after it debuted makes me wonder if the "second pay window" for Paramount content is longer than the usual 12 months...

Im in shock that The Dark Knight will be shown on ITV only 6 years after its cinema release!

As someone said before maybe ITV will try to break that record with TDKR

It just seems that the terrestrial channels don't want to show comic book films!

Tintin is the first Paramount film to have a terrestrial premiere although it wouldn't surprise if it was under a separate deal to the other Paramount films.

I think with Viacom owning Channel 5, I wouldn't be surprised if we see the films end up there. I'm guessing they've not renewed their Sony contract as Channel 4 is showing MIB3.

I thought Channel 5 must have had Sony movies to 2011 because The Green Hornet is there, then I saw Bad Teacher turn up on Channel 4. I'm also confused how Arthur Christmas is on Channel 4 but The Pirates is on BBC1 and they're both Sony. Also how did BBC1 get Tintin and it's a Paramount movie?

I miss the days of press stories about movie deals. At least you knew who had what then!

I didn't know that. Why would they give up their Paramount deal when it has so many good titles? Where have they gone to I wonder?

I can see why bbc have picked Puss in Boots for christmas day as Shrek was popular but I think The Muppets would have been better for all the family as Mums, Dads and Grandparents all know The Muppets

I'm guessing Pirates! was sold separately to Arthur Christmas and other Sony films, same with The Hunger Games which is Lionsgate but was shown on Channel 4 rather than Channel 5 who usually show Lionsgate films. I'm guessing Tintin was sold separately as well.

21 Jump Street was made by Sony and MGM but the TV rights were done by MGM and I'm guess Channel 5 did a deal to get the terrestrial premiere to it.

At one point it looked like Channel 4 had brought Universal films, and had done a deal with Sony for a few of theirs, perhaps it was simply better value to move studios...
