BBC ONE showing a Warner Bros film last night. So, who has the WB contract now? Is it still ITV?
The BBC have had a few WB films here and there for ages. They've even shown Happy Feet (like seemingly ever other channel in existence.)

Based on the recent premieres of The Dark Knight and The Hangover, we have to assume ITV has the rights...

Anyone know if the film Timerider from 1982 with Fred Ward ever been on terrestrial tv.
Don't ever remember it coming on, but who knows - it could have, so anybody's guess.

It is available online (YouTube) - full movie to watch.

As said before there's probably hundreds, poss thousands of movies never been shown and/or not been shown in ages. My "favourite" example of this is the 1974 movie The Klansman starring Richard Burton and Lee Marvin, scheduled to be shown on ITV in 1981 - only to be pulled from the schedules at the last minute (presumably because of the content?). Never to be seen again and indeed never been shown on terrestrial tv (LOL I wonder who has the rights to show it now? ITV still? Dark Knight eat your heart out! ) - I did eventually get it through Lovefilm/Amazon about 2 years ago - wasn't worth the wait!

Now drum roll everyone.... ()...

My best example is a 1977 film called "Speedtrap" which starred Joe Don Baker and Tyne Daly. Saw it on ITV in 1982 and again in 1987 and have never seen it in any listings since then. Ended up dubbing my ITV VHS copy onto DVD. A bit of digging shows it was once available on region 1 but has long since been deleted and i can't find any record of it ever being released on region 2. Can anyone find any record of it being shown on British TV other than the two showings I quoted?

Real Steel is a 12 is it not? Strange time to put it on at, and considering the type of film, a strange channel choice also. Would have been better as a BBC ONE film for a Saturday or Sunday evening. Not tea time.

Never seen that film, can't even recall it being on originally (memory! ) which is a pity as I liked Joe Don Baker - I see the movie poster for it is for sale on Amazon.

Real Steel from 2011 & Shadow Dancer 2012 - looks like premieres to me, thanks cylon!

Yes Real Steel is a 12 - a strong night for BBC2 bookended by 2 movie premieres.

I didn't think we'd see any movie premieres so soon after Christmas on the BBC. Real Steel seems an unusual one for BBC2, much like I Am Number 4. Thought they'd be more BBC1 over Christmas type films in the early evening. Not well known enough perhaps so put on BBC2?

Mad City is an old film though. Some back catalogue movies from studios end up on many channels while the most recent ones are with a specific channel.

Speculation on my part but I wonder if they thought about putting it on BBC1 over Christmas but couldn't find a slot for it, deciding to keep it for January. As you say though maybe they thought it would be a safer bet on BBC2.

2001, made for TV

No, this never made it to Sky Movies (sorry, just popping in to add some value when I can! )

What about "Blood The Last Vampire" manga, it was on Channel 4 about 10 years ago, never noticed a second showing.

Also CB4, I have been wanting to see it but have missed it twice on BBC2, I think the last time that was on was even longer ago than Blood...

Can you blame them? I'm sure Andrew from Anime Limited said that the average audience for a non-Ghibli anime in the UK was less than 1k or something ridiculous...

They tell me the cells in Strangeways are cold this time of year - and I hear internet access is limited to only a short time each day so I can fully sympathise with your predicament!

No need to apologise for that on here!

Think Highlander 2 has been shown way back - but couldn't be sure.

Tinker Tailor Solider Spy which was distributed by Studiocanal came to Channel 4 just shy of two years so perhaps Studiocanal who are the UK distributor of Evil Dead just release their films on terrestrial in a shorter time period. Might potentially mean we'll get the terrestrial premiere of Rush this year.

BBC Two have shown big films in the past, Tron Legacy and John Carter were both BBC Two so Real Steel doesn't surprise me.

Ah that makes more sense then, wasn't aware Studio Canal had distributed that.

They were big budget, and Tron was fairly successful, but I wouldn't call them big films, especially John Carter which flopped like hell...

Well when you put it at 2am with zero advertising, its not really all that surprising that no one see's it
