Made by Film4 so it skips pay TV, I'm surprised they've not shown 12 Years a Slave yet since that is made by Film4 but I guess it depends on how financially involved they were similar to BBC Films where some films get shown within a year while others its 18 months to 2 years.

Wikipedia says Studio Canal for Cuban Fury, not Film4. Also, Last King of Scotland happened to be Film4 but didn't get fast tracked for some reason.

Forget what I said about Wikipedia and Cuban Fury, seen the Film4 credit now, my point about LKoS still stands though.

I like to see BBC One to premiere the James Bond films on New Years Day with Dr No, then after they shown the first 23 films. There will be the premiere of Spectre in 2017 (perhaps Boxing Day).

I like to see "Everything or Nothing: The Untold Story of 007" going to be aired on BBC One as well next year

Studiocanal films are fairly quick anyway, The Wind Rises was less than a year after it's UK theatrical release. (And Film4 showed it subtitled, on a Saturday afternoon too...)

StudioCanal have become quite prominent at the UK box office, Paddington was a huge hit and Shaun the Sheep is successful as well.

I expect Rush will premiere on Channel 4 this year, quite interesting that they've gotten to distribute certain Working Title films like Rush and Tinker Tailor Solider Spy.

I remember reading Deadline a few years ago, and apparently there was a bit of a power vacuum in the indie film industry when eOne acquired Alliance (who traded as Momentum in the UK), soon after Revolver also went under, and apparently the opportunity to supersede those two was too good to miss. Several indies ramped up their efforts, and a few of the majors (notably Warner Bros.) started acquiring films purely for the UK market, and German distributor Koch Media also launched a UK division.

According to the BFI's 2014 Statistical Yearbook Studiocanal won the power surge and have been riding high ever since.

eOne became prominent due to distributing Summit films especially The Twilight Saga which was a huge hit but they lose the Summit films to Lionsgate UK when the contract expires but they've done well with stuff like Mr Turner and 12 Years a Slave. The biggest franchise eOne has is Peppa Pig which has been going strong for over 10 years.

Universal has been involved with UK films thanks to their relationship with Working Title with stuff like The Theory of Everything and the various Richard Curtis films but occasionally we've seen Fox back a British film like The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and they also distribute films for Pathe.

OK so Channel 4 are showing older Universal films now, Serenity is on Film4 next week, which begs the question why they haven't got Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz from ITV.

I think it's like the 20th Century Fox deal where ITV still has the rights to some films, and they share them for a while...

I hope the BBC signs a deal with Fox next year to broadcast "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" on Boxing Day 2017. However, some of it's Fox/Dreamworks films will continue to air on the BBC (For example: Cast Away).

Do you honestly think that's going to happen Callum?

Yes but true. Since BBC originally aired several Fox movies (including Speed and Independence Day) until 2010 as where Channel 4 handle the rights to Speed and Night At The Museum (premiered from 2009-2014) until Sky now handle the rights since 2014.

So Channel 4 originally had Salt in the Sat 7th 9pm slot, it's since been replaced with TBC, expect another premiere.

Step Up 4: Miami Heat (2012), 2.30pm-4.30pm, Sunday 8th March, Channel 4.

Sorry to bring up Skyfall from Christmas, but have found that in Switzerland the film was broadcast uncut and in 2.35:1, so it seems strange that, apart from the majority of the cuts ITV made were for little bits of violence that really weren't that bad, they also didn't even get a proper OAR version of the film. Shame.

Why might a post-watershed Christmas Eve showing be cut, but a mid-January 9pm showing be uncut?

Context is everything...

Sky didn't air it OAR either, I believe because the 16:9 version (or something close to that ratio) was approved for IMAX, they consider it to be acceptable in lieu of OAR. A similar thing happened with Tron: Legacy on Sky Movies.
