Not really. Funny People and Whip It, both premièred on ITV2. There was at least one other too, but I can't remember what it was now...

I'm wondering if it's been stuck on ITV2, because it's very long, 152 minutes, and it's not a film you can show directly after the watershed.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter on Channel 4 next Saturday and Fright Night showing on BBC Three the same evening. Have these been on before? Don't recall seeing Fright Night but would have thought it would premiere on One or Two rather than Three.

Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter is definitely a network premiere. I haven't seen Fright Night 2011 on network TV before so it looks like BBC3 is surprisingly showing a premiere?

As expected, a repeat of all the Twilight films on Channel 4 with the exception of the last is leading to a premiere of Breaking Dawn Part 2 (2012), 9pm-11.20pm, Sat 28th March

Looper (2012) 9.05pm-11pm on BBC2 the same day, is this a premiere?

Looper is definitely a premiere. That looks like a Columbia/Tristar film.

It's an indie film, eOne distributed it in the UK, Filmdistrict distributed it through TriStar in the US...

Has the eOne rights switched from Channel 4 to the BBC? Loads of recent eOne films like The Sweeney have debuted on Channel 4 so perhaps its a one-off.

Hansel and Gretel I think MGM has TV rights although Paramount did distribute it when it was in cinemas and DVD, it's a similar situation to The Hobbit where WB distributed it to cinemas and DVD but MGM got TV rights, same with GI Joe Retaliation.

Don't know, but BBC Two aired Cosmopolis the other week, which was distributed by eOne, so it's a possibility.

C5 also aired 21 Jump Street, which was distributed by MGM, perhaps C5 now has rights to their films?

I see.

So Looper is an eOne film? Surprised the BBC have any as I thought Channel 4 had those ones. And I assumed 21 Jump Street was Sony. Are Sony films split between ITV/Channel 4/Channel 5 as premieres have been on all three recently?

Yes, it was distributed by eOne in the UK (acquired from Filmnation international sales agent).

21 Jump Street was distributed by Sony, but was co-financed by MGM, back when they decided to become a glorified TV company. So we're all acting under the assumption MGM holds the rights to 21 Jump Street, which would also explain it's appearance on Netflix instead of Sky...

MGM doesn't distribute their films theatrically anymore, they often get another studio like WB or Paramount to co-finance and distribute and they keep the television rights while the studio handles the theatrical and DVD distribution. It's possible that Channel 5 has the rights to the MGM films with the exception of Bond which is always sold separately. Skyfall didn't premiere on Netflix until Sky's exclusive deal came to an end,

Red Tails is a Lucasfilm/Fox film. Would the BBC have bought that as a package of Lucasfilm films or Fox films?

I think Lucasfilm films (Lucasfilms?) are always sold separately, hence Indiana Jones being on the BBC.

So Channel 4 ended up wasting their efforts in airing all the Twilight films up to the premiere of the final one because they've now replaced it with their drama based on the coalition, in running up to the general election, they could have easily placed this on the weekend after as there's a whole month left before it, up to them I guess. Expect Breaking Dawn 2 to air the 4th or 5th of April instead.

Speaking of Lucasfilms, looking forward to the new Star Wars films potentially airing on the BBC instead, I wonder if they'll get the other 6.

Isn't 30 days when the election period impartiality rules kick in? Perhaps they're trying to get it as close as possible without being in the period.

It's a great film. I saw it next week...

Seriously, BBC2 Saturday nights is a ratings dead zone. Looper deserved a hell of a lot better.

Does that not just apply to the BBC?

Likely half the price 6 months after halloween.

I thought the "equal opportunity" during election periods rule applied to everyone, as a lot of smaller channels get dinged on it. It's the 30 days bit I'm unsure about...
