They've shown it a few times before, but not since October 2009. I agree that it deserves to be shown again soonish. It all depends on what kind of agreement they have with Disney, who are notoriously fussy about what can be shown when.

I really hope The Lion King premieres on British terrestrial TV this year. The 3D re-release has been done and dusted now and the film was allowed to be shown on free-to-air television in Australia for the first time a month or so ago.

What kind of rules do Disney set, is it just how many times a film can be shown, or is it when and on which channel as well?

I'm liking these Sunday Afternoon Premieres that Channel 4 is doing, it's a good idea to have movies on in the afternoon, rather than in primetime where other programmes may be coming on as well! Good on Channel 4!

I'd assume they don't select which Channel they get shown on, otherwise Channel 5 would never have got repeat rights...

This has been pushed back to 4.25pm. It now clashes with another movie premiere in the form of The Water Horse (2007) which starts at 4.20pm on Channel 5 (HD).

This was pulled in the final schedules. It should be rescheduled sometime soon.

It looks like C4 are showing Terminator Salvation on Sat 28th April. But how is that possible, don't C5 have the rights to all new Sony Pictures titles?

Terminator Salvation was produced by Warner Bros... If I'm not too mistaken.

Warner Bros. held US distribution rights, and Sony Pictures held non-US distribution rights.

Some channels do get one off showings of films from other companies. Channel 4 have shown the odd Warner Bros. film (which ITV have the rights to) and also some Touchstone films (which the BBC have rights to).

Probably better that it's on Channel 4 anyway, it won't be cut, will be in HD and also in the correct aspect ratio.

The same could be said for all recent premieres of Sony Pictures titles on Channel 5 too.

Only when rights don't allow are titles not shown in HD / desired aspect ratio.
