Airing in June according to their advertising email. Was this expected?”

Same year as The Dark Knight Rises. Another Warner Brothers title. But where are the Sherlock Holmes films?

Interestingly, ITV think the target audience for the Hobbit films are "housewives with children"...

Err... okayyy.

Thought Channel 4 had the LOTR films. Surprised they didn't get these as well.

Made by different studios I believe.

Not quite, both were made by New Line Cinema, but during the LOTR era, they were distributed by Entertainment in Video, and now they're distributed by owner Warner Bros. The LOTR films returned to Warner Bros. recently, so they're now all distributed by Warner Bros., so maybe ITV will play them out too?

MGM owns the TV rights to The Hobbit so I guess ITV did a deal with MGM.

I can't see ITV premiered LOTR films (due to The Hobbit coming in June as someone said before) but BBC One can.

I'm not 100% sure, but it could make sense.

I will watch Great Expectations when it comes round, but of the various versions TV and Film, nothing has ever come close to the 1946 David Lean version.

I'm surprised the remake of The Mist hasn't been on network TV. Or was it and I missed it?

There's only been one version of The Mist - the one on Horror next week., and I'm pretty certain that's never been scheduled on any terrestrial channel before.

Unless you mean the remake of The Fog, in which case it's been on and you should be grateful some of us watched it so you didn't have to. It's awful

Yes, I was thinking of The Fog. The Mist is a good one too that ending!

Ah, well I wouldn't know about that - I've been very patiently waiting for it to appear on Freeview.

The original Stephen King story is a very good one, though. Must try to re-read it before next weekend.

Speaking of New Line Cinema. There must be a rights issue there because its most famous movies made before 1994 (when it was bought by Time Warner) are rarely seen on television these days.

Nightmare on Elm Street, Critters, House Party, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Sid and Nancy, Repossessed, Suburban Commando, Deep Cover, Menace II Society and Honeymoon in Vegas. When did you last seen any of these on TV in recent times?

When did I last want to see any of those on TV? Perhaps, they aren't being played because they don't think they'll get any viewers?

Well we know now that channel 5 has got the paramount rights Hansel & Gretel witch Hunters and it's only about 2 years old.

We were speculating that Channel 5 could have the Paramount deal due to close links with Viacom and also Hansel & Gretel turning up.

I'm more confused about the BBC having Dream House.

No we don't, Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters is an MGM film. We knew C5 had some kind of deal with MGM, as they got the 21 Jump Street rights.

Right. That explains that one.

If C5 had a Paramount deal, we'd have probably seen a hilariously neutered version of Super8. (There's a surprisingly large amount of swearing in that film, which is weird given it's very much an update on the Goonies formula.)
