If C5 had a Paramount deal, we'd have probably seen a hilariously neutered version of Super8. (There's a surprisingly large amount of swearing in that film, which is weird given it's very much an update on the Goonies formula.)

If the version on the iPlayer is the same, it didn't have any studio logos either, which is weird. I know Rian Johnson doesn't like that, but I'd have thought the financier would have been insistent.

Did Looper have studio logos on the cinema version?

Yes, The UK cinema release had Entertainment One's logo, then the rather nice Filmnation logo, then the DMG Entertainment logo, then the Endgame Entertainment logo. Possibly Ram Bergman's logo as well, but I can't remember it.

If Five has a deal with MGM does that mean they get The Hobbit titles as opposed to C4 which showed the LOTR films or are the rights to those sold separately?

Chances are C5 brought a package consisting of a few films, but given MGM were basically just passengers on The Hobbit*, perhaps ITV inherited the rights from their Warner Bros. deal. *From what I've heard New Line put the franchise into early development, then realised MGM held the rights to the Hobbit, so they invited them aboard whilst New Line took the lead. |

When did I last want to see any of those on TV? Perhaps, they aren't being played because they don't think they'll get any viewers?
Of course, most of the pre 1994 New Line Cinema back catalog is low budget cult movie or junk. With the exception of the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. I just find it strange how the relative acclaimed Elm Street 1 and 3 aren't distributed on any platforms (apart from DVD) when they are two somewhat popular 80's movies. Speaking of 80's films. Nice to see a very rare appearance of The Dark Crystal on TV on Monday. Might give it a look. I don't think that's been on since Christmas 1993, when BBC gave it a screening. Labyrinth doesn't get shown much these days either. Probably because that and TDC and the two Henson films to not include the Muppets or be co-produced with a major studio. |

ITV has confirmed they hold the rights to at least An Unexpected Journey.

Sorry, I wasn't directing the comment at you in particular. It just got me thinking because of all the film libraries that is the one in which nearly all of the movies aren't on TV, Sky, Sky Store, Netflix or Amazon.

Outside of the Horror Channel, you don't really see many horror films on TV at all, perhaps that's why you don't see Nightmare on Elm Street. |

MGM has had a successful turnaround, only five years ago they were very close to closing down and both Hobbit and Skyfall were in jeopardy although I suspect both franchises would have ended up at WB and Sony

If BBC had a Fox deal, they might showing some of the films including Home Alone, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Night at the Museum, and The Seeker: The Dark is Rising.

Not going to include the May premieres I included, Mr Sirs?
On another note I was thinking of putting in fake premieres for April 1st but couldn't be bothered/think of something that would fool people. |

I don't have a monopoly on the "regular list" so if your contribution isn't on there just add it in, or you may find (as I have done before) that I catch it next time round.
