Les Misérables (2012), Sunday 23rd August, 9.00pm-12.10am, Channel 4
I love that film. I saw it in the cinema twice

I'd love to see the stage show at some point.

It's not a film I'll be watching anyway, but am I the only one who isn't bothered by adverts? It's annoying when they're placed in a clumsy fashion or if there's no decent place to stop the film, but I'll use that time to use the loo, get a drink etc.

Apart from the fact that it's a bloody good film, even the presence of Jesse Eisenberg (and since director Richard Ayoade presents C4's gadget programmes) should've secured this a 9pm premiere slot. 12.15am will ensure everyone misses it.

No premieres for the weekend of 12th-13th it appears, maybe waiting until the rugby is on.

I have an idea, Xmas movie predictions folks? I can see Brave, Iron Man 3 and Wreck It Ralph surfacing on BBC1

Can see Man of Steel making an appearance. Maybe BBC1 as they premiered the last one?

Also,

The Hunger Games 2 (though this will probably air just before Xmas if the premier of number 1 is anything to go by
Frozen (too soon?)
Oz The Great and Powerful

I think Man of Steel has been on before. Brave and Wreck It Ralph will defnitely be on, too soon for Frozen. Just looking through the 2012-13 movies and there aren't many animations. Turbo could be on and possibly Despicable Me 2 on ITV.

Frozen will be Xmas 2016 at the earliest. I think ITV will get Man of Steel, their track record with WB Superhero movies isn't great, mind, took them 3 and a half years longer than normal to get round to showing The Dark Knight.

Pretty certain that was on Film 4 earlier in the year. There was a scheduling clash and I had to give it a miss IIRC.

C4 have only just shown IM2 so I would assume they have IM3. Also, the first Captain America film hasn't even aired yet.

I think Man of Steel has been on before.

Byzantium has premiered on Film 4, but I welcome seeing the Channel 4 'premiere' listed here as I can't get Film 4 in HD. I've seen Byzantium on Blu-ray anyway, but there's a lot of stuff that premieres on Film 4 without yet getting a snifter on C4.

That's a very good point which hadn't actually occurred to me...

Just to clarify I simply copy and paste the "film premieres" from the NextFilm website (which the owner/editor kindly supplies for me in a readable format to be able to do this). I guess strictly speaking it's not a premiere if the film has already been shown on another terrestrial/Freeview channel (which in this case it was).

Nah, Avengers onwards was Disney distribution, meaning IM3 is, I think Channel 4 decided to finally show IM2 because BBC would likely show it at Xmas, given the fact it was released a year after Avengers, which BBC showed last Xmas.

As for Captain America and Thor, Paramount also have the rights to both, so they'll like end up on C4 sometime too, again perhaps before BBC likely air Winter Soldier and The Dark World.

It'd make sense of C4 show Thor 1 and Captain America 1 before BBC show IM3, but then again, they've shown IM2 about 21 months AFTER BBC showed Avengers, so there's no sense on C4's part. Why did it take so long?

C4 haven't shown any new Paramount films for a while (before IM2), perhaps the deal expire and took time to renegotiate?
