If you bought them in the UK they would have been stamped on the covers (can't remember why, think it was an import thing) so that would reduce their value. Dunno by how much, though.
My dad used to talk about owning early Cap America and FF comics and swapping them with other kids on his street. It's just what folk did back then.

We used to swap comics for sweets or toys. Annuals we would lend out for sweets or whatever other currency was offered.
That is exactly what we did back then.Lots of kids and no telly.
We could all read lots of different comics by swapping with each other.I am talking late 50's here.
