watch the clyde interview ..isnt he lovely..one thing i will say is that was not Andy Murray..and I dont think he is a Matt fan,,because he tweeted something at christmas about that birdy/bin man song//a black mark in my book only to be forgiven if he wins a grand slam:

humm interesting article this not mention of matt..but says all geniue artists should "run"...(i am sure I read it earlier and it said "run for your life"..maybe its been edited

anyway,,i am still confused as to the way they are trying to PR matt...musician/songwriter..but sings a GB song for his first single..maybe it a bit of reverse phisocology going on here..Ie.."nice single but is it really Matt"..wow..album thats totally his own work..or I could be just talking out of my "bum as usual
edit this..http://music.uk.msn.com/features/why...n-for-x-factor”

Hi OOTP

I dont think you are talking out of your bum girl, I think you quite often hit the nail on the head!

They have been heralding him as "The first credible rock act to come out of the X factor" And we have been told that the album has an Indie vibe.
Surely when launching the career of a rock/indie singer songwriter, the lead single should have a rock/indie singer songwriter sound!
It certainly shouldnt have been written by one of the most famous writers of (it has to be said) rather safe pop ballads and presented in this way.

Yeah I agree, when I said'our Matt' what I mean is Matt doing what he wants rather than what others want..I know he says he's happy about RFYL but I'm still not convinced that he wouldn't have preferred to go with one of his own songs for his first single..I think I need to hush my mouth now!! the more I try to explain what I'm trying to say the worse its sounding!!

1D are on Red or Black on Saturday so that will be a big boost for them (probably don't need it though) before their single hits the shops next week. Leona was on the other night and Il Divo were on last night. Simon Cowell certainly knows how to promote his chosen ones.

Regarding hassling radio stations, I wonder if we should email/tweet the stations we think will play Matt's single or is it a bit too early to do that? I have no idea about this sort of thing as its so rare for me to care enough about an artist to do this.”

Yeah a bit of proactivity by fans is always good - it works to make a noise. Whether he wrote it or not is irrelevant to me at this point; he needs it to be a hit.

Getting a No1 doesn't happen just because a songs good, sadly. Life and the music business aren't that fair.

Hello.

Congratulations to those that somehow kept the thread going over the last six months on the basis of no news whatsoever.

Cant say that many nice things about the single. Best I can manage is that Matt clearly did the best he could with it.And I will buy it of course.

I do think the tour of the highlands and islands is a really nice idea.

Tried to sit through the Chris Moyles interview. It just reminded me why I despise him- surely the most insecure man in Britain but why is he paid to take it out on everybody else. Matt was a model of tolerance.

Hello stranger I feel those gigs will help build his confidence up for getting back up on the XF stage on the first live show

Hi lorraine

I know what you mean.

Yes Matt has said that he is happy with the song. He is hardly in the position to say anything else is he? Bless him

Its really frustrating to be told that the single they should have released is better!

I just hope they havent made a mistake

Right Im off to bed before I get any more ranty ( sorry folks)

Wotcher BB. Yes it will be different for him but hopefully less stressful to go on as the reigning champ. It will be my first time watching the X Factor this year. Will have to switch off straight away just to make sure I dont get sucked back in. There is no way I am going through all that palaver again.

Lol I know what you mean I have watched a few auditions but there is no way I will allow myself to become so invested in anyone as I was (am) with Matt. I will never vote again, last year I just had to succumb to the manipulation to get Matt through!!!!

But that's good. Art/drama/literature/music - they are there to stimulate all of our emotions. They should make us laugh, feel happy and give us fairytale endings; sometimes we should be inspired or spiritually uplifted; but there is also a place for sadness or anger. Some of the greatest poetry in history revolves around great tragedy and wars. People need to experience the whole gamut of emotion to have truly lived a full life and The Arts are there to help us understand ourselves via the vicarious experience of the artist's pen or paintbrush. As long as the writer/artist inspires something, moves our emotions in some way, then they have achieved something. RFYL is not going to go down as an immense work of art, by any stretch of the imagination - but if it makes you feel sad and made you think/understand why it makes you sad, then it has served a purpose.

It was an experience though- not just the show but the message boards and then the voting. And then the final weekend which was just sheer madness. I hope Sam eventually paid off her phone bill.

I heard it twice on Heart yesterday, but not today - but I haven't had much opportunity to listen to any radio today, just a few short car journeys.

Think we all struggled with our phone bill lol. I remember your confession that you'd never voted before you proceeded to spend a fortune. It truly was an unforgettable, highly charged time

Have you been back on the forum long or were you on over the summer? I enjoyed a nice break and contented myself with a very occasional lurk and arguing with some nutters on the Politics forum (who I imagine thought I was a nutter in return). I am sure you have posted a view on the single but what do you reckon?

On the voting- I did used to vote once a week and occasionally even tried to persuade people not to put in multiple votes. Then I voted dozens of times first on Saturday night then on Sunday morning and then again in the last minute panic when we all managed to persuade ourselves Rebecca was going to win.

It bigs up GB, which he needs at the moment cos they are trying to high profile him enough to be able to stand in Cowell's shoes and I feel that they have used Matt in that process but I can also see the exchange for him in terms of sales and perhaps appealing to a wider audience. I also feel that the rest of the album must be strong enough to carry this song. I really do feel that he's carrying it!! So yes, I feel that Matt is better than the song and can't wait for the release of his own stuff. This is a surefire hit and Im enjoying it whilst waiting for the real Matt Cardle on the album. I'm willing it to do well and I will buy it but I'm certain that it will be my least favourite when I've heard the rest Glad I've got that off my chest!!!”

I posted this about an hour a go and it pretty much sums my view up I stayed on here until about April, didn't post for a few months but still lurked and kept my finger on the pulse...fully surfaced again about a week or so ago
