Stolen from the old thread, no one seems to have picked this up: Quote:

Part 23 didn't even last a month!
Either they are cutting them short thesedays or there is too much waffle! I suppose it's better cutting now than next week |

Seems odd to shunt the Celebrity edition of Masterchef to daytime - and not even the best daytime slot. 5.15pm would have been better IMO. Seems like a massive waste.
I am wondering however if daytime drama has been cut and this is meant to be a cheaper yet high profile replacement? (2.15 being the daytime non-Doctors drama slot) |

5 Minute Breakdown (Doctor Who v All Star Family Fortunes) for anyone who is interested.
Time-----BBC1------ITV1 19:00....5.31m....3.77m 19:05....5.74m....3.81m 19:10....6.13m....4.11m 19:15....6.19m....4.71m 19:20....6.18m....4.96m 19:25....6.24m....5.42m 19:30....6.27m....5.78m 19:35....6.36m....5.89m 19:40....6.25m....5.97m 19:45....6.34m....5.79m 19:50....6.39m....6.01m 19:55....5.88m....6.82m 20:00....3.61m....8.71m 20:05....3.01m....9.62m It appears that a fair few viewers were slowly tuning in early for the X Factor. As for Doctor Who, it's an unusual breakdown. It tends to gain quite a few casual viewers during transmission but on this occasion remained very consistent throughout. On the whole, the majority of viewers switching on/over during the hour switched to ITV1. |

I've just spotted that the SCD Preview is being repeated on the Sunday from 5:25pm to 6:30pm on BBC1. Odd.
Also, Holding Out for a Hero is on ITV1 at 7pm on Sunday 11th. |

As I pointed out earlier, Celebrity MasterChef has a primetime slot: Quote:
COOKERY: Celebrity MasterChef I'm not convinced those daytime slots will verify. Let's see what tomorrow's final final schedules bring.
On: BBC 1 East (1) Date: Friday 16th September 2011 (starting in 16 days) Time: 20:30 to 21:00 (30 minutes long) Some famous faces are judged on their passion for food in a search for the country's top celebrity chef. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Excerpt taken from DigiGuide - the world's best TV guide available from http://www.getdigiguide.tv/?p=1&r=87587 Copyright (c) GipsyMedia Limited. |

That's what I thought too. Otherwise, I can't believe they'd put a show, which is capable of solid 4m figures against Corrie, in a 2.15pm daytime slot. Such a waste.
.Do you know/ have any idea what what BBC One is showing on Sundays after George Gently. The Queen's Palace's would be more suitable for that slot imo. |

X Factor Australia has got off to a better start this time. Monday nights premiere drew 1.32m, up 11% from last year. Tuesday improved to 1.69m, up 14% from the second episode last year. Tuesdays show was also the higher than every rating from last year except for the final results. On both nights, it was the most watched show on Australian TV.

I don't think it's a repeat, as they both say "eight celebrities will be paired with professionals" and there's meant to be sixteen overall. I think for some reason they've split it over two nights. Can't really remember last year's but I think there was a lot of padding, it's going to be worse this year if it is split (still better than X Factor though
)Edit: Just read there are actually 14 not 16, so it could be a repeat and the description's wrong. Celebrity Big Brother is still maintaining a decent figure. Poirot struggled against an excellent New Tricks. The Conspiracy Files performed well. Emmerdale and the first Coronation Street did well but EastEnders and the second Coronation Street seem slightly low on share. |

I think they might show Garrow's Law after George Gently. Could be risky pitching it up against Downton Abbey, but I don't know what else could go there. According to C.M.W, IIRC he said Frozen Planet is airing on Sundays from late October, so Garrow's Law could fill that Sunday slot in late September/early October.

I was thinking maybe Jeremy Paxman's series on the Empire but I read somewhere that it wasn't on until 2012 but the book that accompanies the series is out in October. Though the book could just be out early to cash in on Christmas sales .
To be honest, Sundays look like a bit of a no-win situation for BBC One. Hard to see what they could play there that won't get thrashed. Even the older, upmarket, PSB fare they usually reliably turn to in these difficult slots will work less well against Downton than they would against other ITV hits. I was expecting to see Birdsong (a 2x90 drama) around Remembrance Sunday after Downton has finished, but thinking about it that wouldn't fit with Frozen Planet. |

And besides a historical series about the British Empire might not be best placed opposite a period drama (set at the time of the Empire's decline, no less!).

Frozen Planet should do well although I think it'll do 5-6m whereas Planet Earth did 6-7m although that was split into two chunks. |

BBC1 have "Young Herriot", a 3x60 drama about the early years of the author James Herriot and a 1 hour documentary on him too. It sounds like your typical Sunday night fare.

I'm unsure why Ab Fab could go, maybe Christmas 10pm followed by an episode on New Years Day.
21:00: The Royle Family 22:00: Absolutely Fabulous 22:30: Comedy Roadshow (as its already been announced for Christmas Day) Or alternatively the first Ab Fab could go on Xmas Eve to form the usual comedy night with My Family and HIGNFY. |
