ITV back to the top in the shares and Five once again above channel 4.

Some decent figures all around last night. 9/11, CBB and Celeb Juice also posted good figures up against each other. CBB did well to stay above 2m and 9/11 didn't appear to steal viewers from any of the other terrestrials. Well deserved for an excellent doc and one of ITV's strongest weekday primetime shares in a while I think.

Ch4's mini boost didn't last long and it's back to some dire figures from 9-11pm. At least they have some decent rating shows on Tues & Wed now though.

CBB seems to be desperately clinging to create some tension and arguments and over exagerating them and it's not been the best series imo, but the production of the highlight shows has been much better than Ch4 did. There doesn't seem to be that many likeable housemates for me.

That 9/11 number looks even better when you see the ITV soap figures, not the best for the 8pm hour, seems like Watchdog dented it.

5.8m/24.4 %
5.1m/23.2 %
4.6m/21.9 %
4.2m/22.8 %”

A bit of a drop towards the end, but I guess that's not really surprising, it seems like some expected it to be only an hour long. Still its not often ITV1 win from 20:00 to presumably 00:20.

Not a good night for Channel 4 from 9pm onwards really, extremely poor 10pm figure. And Channel 5 will be very pleased to be 1m ahead of Celebrity Juice.

Don't want to sound all nit-picky, but thats 5.1m for the 9/11 doc not 5.5m.

Watchdog clearly did good business against the soap hour.

A Good Night for ITV 1. While the Soap ratings look bad Coronation Street is up from last week and last year so that's pretty good for it. Glad Torchwood Didn't drop but i don't think they will make another series.

Bit of a low figure for the BBC News at 10 isn't it?

It did clash with ITV's 9/11 documentary.

They missed quite possibly THE best episode in the entire history of the show.

It was a superb story with a touching ending and multiple twists along the way - eg:

Spoiler
Larry discovering his grandmother was married on a road called Walford!

Worth watching on catch up if you like the show - though it was one of those that genealogists will like as well as there was a lot of unusual searching involved this week by nature of how the story developed.

A bit of random trivia: a repeat of The Borgias on Sky Atlantic timeshifted 1715% higher than its overnight rating. Possibly the biggest %-timeshift ever? I'm sure derek500's gonna be very impressed by that stat .

More consolidated ratings from 15th-21st August: http://www.broadcastnow.co.uk/Journa...15-22Aug11.xls

Important to note, however, that those Channel 5 consolidated ratings are incorrect, and higher than what BARB will actually report on their website. The ratings mentioned by Broadcast for C5 programmes in their consolidated articles in previous weeks (such as here for example) have all been wrong (slightly higher than the ones published on BARB), so I wouldn't take much notice of those CBB figures as definite official ratings.

Anyone know how the ratings for Lets do Lunch with Gino and Mel have been tracking?

I recall they were posted as none too great early on.

Someone asked on the thread about the show as it is the last one today and they were wondering about its chances of a return.

It has been an entertaining break from persistent Loose Women.

It's been hovering around the 0.9m mark most days. Here's its ratings from the last 2-3 weeks:

15/8: 812k (11.7%)
16/8: 941k (12.2%)
17/8: 824k (12.2%)
18/8: 944k (12.4%)
19/8: 886k (12.7%)
22/8: 846k (11.4%)
23/8: 948k (12.0%)
24/8: 924k (12.7%)
25/8: no data
26/8: 942k (11.8%)
30/8: 807k (10.3%)
31/8: 923k (12.5%)

I'm not really too sure how it compares to the ratings ITV1 usually get in that slot most year round or what they would've been expecting. I do know though that Lunch with Gino and Mel has generally rated about the same as how Loose Women was rating in that slot in the couple of weeks before it. In the two weeks before Lunch with Gino and Mel launched, Loose Women averaged:

25/7: 932k (13.1%)
26/7: 872k (12.4%)
27/7: 751k (11.3%)
28/7: 861k (13.0%)
29/7: 930k (13.2%)
01/8: 945k (12.2%)
02/8: no data
03/8: 737k (10.8%)
04/8: 1.05m (12.2%)
05/8: no data

Loose Women seemed to be a bit more erratic, going down into the 700s one episode but back up to 1m's the following episode. I guess it might be because some people tuned in depending on who the panellists were each day.

Interesting to see the average soap first showing timeshift:

12.34% - Doctors
8.23% - EastEnders
6.11% - Emmerdale
6.04% - Hollyoaks (4 episodes only)
5.55% - Coronation Street

I would have thought Hollyoaks would have timeshifted a bigger percentage considering its demographic.

Thanks for the Gino and Mel ratings info rzt.

That seems good enough for August daytime and the show has been well received judging by the thread....if only to give some respite from Loose Women.

They said at the end of the last episode that they hoped to be back....

Yeah, agreed. Worth noting, I think those ITV1 timeshifts are incorrect, as they haven't stated the correct overnight rating. Even when including +1, The overnight ratings they've stated are higher than what they actually were so the % timeshift appears smaller.

Take TXF for example which they said got 11.69m (inc +1) in the overnights. It actually had 11.0/11.3m (inc +1) depending on the full-slot/tape-checked figures, so the %-timeshift appears smaller in that excel file than it actually was.

I don't know if this has been asked but does anybody know if ITV2 will be airing X Factor USA in conjunction with its US transmission a la American Idol?

Ah, fair enough. I don't think it would make much difference to the percentage, but a difference nevertheless.

As for Gino and Mel versus Loose Women, this is an interesting weekly comparison for the averages we have from rzt:

Loose Women
25/07 - 869k (12.6%)
01/08 - 911k (11.7%)

Let's Do Lunch...
15/08 - 881k (12.2%)
22/08 - 915k (12.0%)
29/08 - 865k (11.4%) <-- Tuesday and Wednesday only

I would rest Loose Women during half terms and Christmas and put that on, seems to be level with Loose Women, I doubt ITV were expecting much from it so to stay just under 1m should please them.

there was speculation that they would hold it over til January so as not to dent the UK version, but maybe that wont be the case now as the UK version is flying ahead anyway without Cowell

Wouldn't have caused problems as ITV2 air American Idol in January? Will be interesting to see the US X Factor and also if like American Idol, they blur the product placement.

At least Sky subscribers have already paid to see it, so the loss of advertising exposure is not crucial. The Blackberry break bumpers give good value though.

Unlike C4. They must be seriously worried that only 1.415m watched The Killing 'live' and 1.066m timeshifted and no doubt spun through the ads.

I wonder how many of the VOSDAL viewers same day timeshifted and missed the ads too?

I was surprised to see that the Torchwood repeats seem to get about the same timeshift % as the original showings (32% and 34% respectively)

Surely a fair percentage of its viewers are teenagers watching in their non-PVR bedrooms and housewives & families watching in their non PVR kitchens at teatime?

At the same point I would have thought teenagers would be watching at their own leisure whether its the next day or at some other point in the week.
