Solid enough rating for Planet Dinosaur, Iv seen half of it and although its very watchable it seems a bit jumbled in the way its throwing its information up-some of the captions are not readable without the aid of a Microscope.
I seem to remember the original Walking With Dinosaurs getting the highest rating ever for a science programme-something like 19 million although it was an amalgamated figure from two showings during the week. No doubt someone will tell me if Im wrong. If its right though-what a figure!
Decent enough for the Football though arguably thats the most attractive fixture of the group stage given Uniteds popularity.
Crazy crazy crazy re Masterchef-must count in the top ten most weird scheduling decision (Channel 4 or 5 should do a rundown of the top hundred bad scheduling decisions -it would have at least a dozen viewers-ie us). Quite what the Beeb have gained from this is beyond me.

Seriously I have alot to say about ITV, but when it comes to Primeval, I have nothing but joy for them.

Big thumbs down on anecdotal evidence. You gain points for admitting its only anecdotal though. As such I'm conflicted.

I don't mean this to sound bad but basically you're saying its an audience thinking they're smarter than they are?

You also realise that its pretty easy to 'edit' a live feed of this nature, right? It would (for various reasons) have to run on a delay of some kind which allows them to chose what audiences hear and see anyway. It is incredibly easy to cut away from and mute things in the live feed that you don't want the audience to see or know.

ratings schemtings, I enjoy the show. I actually have he Watch season on DVD, thats how much of a fan I am.

I can not wait to see another series, even if its more of a spin-off.

ITV ends the day in my good books, that is rare, let them have this.

To each their own I suppose. I've never been able to get into this.

I just hope Primeval: World is better than Torchwood: The New World aka Miracle Day.

Those who dont get the reference may like to know that when Miracle Day was first announced, it was called Torchwood: The New World

I don't think it could be worse.

Whats even stranger is how it seems to have been planned this way. If Danny Cohen had just simply decided he had too many non-celebrities and too much cooking in primetime, then the scheduling might have made sense as a slapdash solution. As it is, the episode orders, lengths. etc. indicate its always been planned like this.

The BBC site seems to refer to daytime and primetime shows as essentially different series (30 episodes and 13 episodes respectively) with the latter oddly titled 'Reversions'.

Given how low the last series ended, that this is a post-watershed show, and that its going to contain a lot of canadian accents - I imagine you'll be following this one on ITV2.

I don't know. Maybe they'll try it in one of their many 'death slots'? Presumably it'll be a cheap way to put drama there.

And Torchwood: Miracle Day has worked out so well for the BBC clearly there's an appetite for these overseas flavoured spin-offs... Oh wait...

I don't think Miracle Day being American was really the problem, the fact it took 5-6 weeks to get to the ****ing plot was what bothered people methinks.

I think the bigger issue is that it was rubbish and had no point but that didn't really help me mock this Primeval spin-off or its potential scheduling so I ignored it.

yes I think the biggest of Miracle Days problem is that it was stretched over 10 hours, when it should have been 5. I hope the producers of Primeval learn from this.

That said I dont think its fair to compare the two shows.

Last year's chart for comparison (there were no new entries after that post).

C4 and C4 +1 are overnight ratings, C4 official are from the Barb website.
All overnight ratings are averages for the full slot running time, rounded to 1 decimal place.
Shows are ranked in order of overnight ratings.
Each show only gets one mention in the list.
Come Dine With Me would chart in 2011 ~ 2.6m but don't have exact rating

Grand Designs returned to Channel 4 last night, posting a strong figure of 2.8m (11.4%) [+1 398k] for the channel. It was however, a little low by Grand Designs standards. Seeing as it was against a strong football match on ITV1 and that we are heading into the cold/dark nights period, I expect to see some higher ratings later in the run. Last year's highest rating episode of the series pulled in overnights of 3.5m and a further 353k on +1.

Interesting set of ratings there. It's rare to see Holby fall below 5 million, so The Great British Bake Off must be having some effect on it. Excluding BGT week and the clash with an England football match that is the first time Holby has been below 5 million this year. Channel 4 have a new Gok Wan show starting in 2 weeks time on Tuesdays at 8pm, (Gok Wan usually gives Holby a little dent too due to the demo), so that along with Bake Off simultaneously could see a period of slightly lower ratings for Holby.

Looking at last years ratings the bake off is up around 700-800k year on year and this time last year the show was nearing its finale. This years run still has 6 weeks to go! So I wouldn't be surprised to see a 4m+ finale.

I'm guessing that it doesn't have the same budget as Terra Nova?

UEFA Europa League Football made a triumphant return to Channel 5 with 1.28m (5.6%) across 2 hours and 35 minutes of Thursday primetime.

Match average 1.53m / 6.6%. Peaked at 1.88m / 8.3% at the final whistle.

Looks like Torchwood got thrashed last night with a very good figure for Billy Connolly:

ITV Press Centre
The first episode of Billy Connolly's Route 66 drew 5.7 million viewers (ave - inc HD & +1) on @ITV1 last night.

EDIT from Attentional:

Torchwood: 3.9m (17.1%)
The Killing: 980k (4.9%)
Billy Connolly’s Route 66: 5.4m (23.5%)
Young Soldiers: 615k (2.7%)

...but it was a night of two halves for Channel 5 as Big Brother hit a new low with 1.18m viewers / 7.6%. Spinoff show Bit on the Side rounded off the evening's programmes with 405k (4.6%) until 5 past midnight.

Elsewhere, Neighbours and Home & Away pulled in solid audiences of 1.1m (8.1%) and 719k (4.5%) respectively at teatime.

Earlier, The Wright Stuff entertained 259k (5.6%) for an edition which featured John Barrowman. Afternoon movie Mom at Sixteen grabbed 471k (6.5%).

Flagship news bulletin 5 News at 5 informed 668k (6.0%).
