Surely they should have realised beforehand that a 30-part series was not a good idea?
The 30x45minute commission makes me think it was commissioned with daytime in mind.

A bit of random trivia: a repeat of The Borgias on Sky Atlantic timeshifted 1715% higher than its overnight rating. Possibly the biggest %-timeshift ever? I'm sure derek500's gonna be very impressed by that stat .
I wonder how many of those timeshifts were of the whole programme and not just the raunchy bits.

September rolls around and things seem to be looking up for ITV1 again - Channel 4 almost beaten by E4 from 9-9:30pm .

Looks like the rumour of 75 minute episodes weren't true, wonder if we'll get extended episodes this series and is the Christmas Special included in the 8 part second series or seperate?

Currently with Sky News - editor for 5 News.
Didn't Jay Hunt edit BBC Breakfast (Time/News) at one point?

She did and was controller of daytime and I think she was briefly at Channel 5 before getting the BBC One controller job, do wonder if Peter Fincham had remained at BBC One, the impact she would have had at Channel 5.

It would have been interesting to see. I suppose another year in the C4 job will give us an idea of how she might have done at Channel 5.

I assume the early airing was ITV's attempt to spoil whatever 9/11 offering the Beeb has lined up for the actual anniversary in ten days time?
Probably trying to get it out the way before Red or Black. And to be fair to ITV both BBC2 and Channel 4 aired 9/11 related programming before ITV1

Finally a strong night from ITV1, though I've never seen the sense behind Emmerdale taking the lead in the 8pm hour as it just allows other channels to become competitive with hour long programming. Coronation Street especially picked up a very poor share and it can't be blamed on the lead out. 9/11 recorded and excellent figure; the late news did well for the slot and considering the late running time of Help! I Caught It Abroad it also picked up a good rating. Celebrity Juice returned with a low-ish figure for the show - will Big Brother hurt it?

Torchwood appears to have plateaued on BBC One, with an ok but not brilliant rating and I don't think it'll return. EastEnders had a good night and Watchdogh held up very well against the soaps. BBC News appears to have been dented by the long running ITV1 programming, but Our War did ok for the slot.

On Channel 5, Neighbours seems to have dropped slightly for the tea time figure. They really are not competitive before 9pm but Cowboy Builders did well and Celebrity Big Brother grabbed a decent figure for a highlights package though considering the drop off the normal series will no doubt see, that's possibly lower than they'd like it. Bit On The Side should see a boost tonight.

The Great Irish Dance-Off performed relatively well for BBC Two and, considering the opposition, Great Irish Escape didn't do too badly, basically holding on to it's lead in figure from Coast.

Hollyoaks dropped below 1m for the first time in a little while on Channel 4 but nothing to get overly concerned about. The Athletics pulled in a better figure than previously for Britain's first gold (IIRC) and Country House rescue did ok before the US Imports saw figures drop though E4 appears to have bee a beneficiary with Big Bang Theory doing well.

I'll go for 6 million for an overnight figure, 7 million with timeshift, for Doctor Who as a few fans I know were quite disappointed with last week's episode and are putting the show on its final warning. I know if this week's isn't any better, then I'm saying goodbye as too many of Smith's stories have been mediocre and few have been outstanding ratings wise and viewing wise like Tennant's.

First few officials from CBB. The launch and 1st show didn't timeshift too well, however the other shows, especially Saturdays, had a great increase. In brackets are the overnights it had:

18/8 - 5.27m (launch) (5.1m)
19/8 - 3.37m (3.2m)
20/8 - 3.15m (2.7m)
21/8 - 2.47m (2.2m)
22/8 - 2.69m (2.3m)

"Important to note, however, that those Channel 5 consolidated ratings are incorrect, and higher than what BARB will actually report on their website. The ratings mentioned by Broadcast for C5 programmes in their consolidated articles in previous weeks (such as here for example) have all been wrong (slightly higher than the ones published on BARB), so I wouldn't take much notice of those CBB figures as definite official ratings."

Salv posted the consolidated figures I intiially posted on the BB Ratings Thread a couple of hours ago. They're not the ones from the Broadcast article .

If the scores stay the same (Bulgaria v England on Sky Sports 1, and Wales v Montenegro on Sky Sports 2), Tuesday's England v Wales game won't be that "crucial" as fans thought it might be.

The BBC should have gave My Family a send off.
No matter what people think of the show It was very popular and ran for 11 years.
Tonight's final episode was just a normal one (that got leaked on Iplayer) they move it against Corrie and didn't even advertise it as 'Last Ever' the BBC don't really treat their long running shows well do they

Good ratings for ITV1 last night for once.

Those who kept making digs about ITV1's 'Channel of the Year' award seem to have gone quiet today.

LOL - I take it all back, having one 9pm show get over 5m surely makes them deserved winners now!
